Snare problems

I've been trying to make an AoE spell that snares all targets affected, i've been using Thunder Clap as the base spell and been trying to use the NPC snare as the snare, but when i use it the snare model can be seen on the Critters but they only get slowed, like the normal thunderclap effect.

How do i fix this?

Why would thunder clap cause them to be anything but snared? Read some tutorials on the subject of making custom abilities, or just experiment.

Spells carry out certain effects, and these are hardcoded, though other effects may be triggered.

oh let me clarify forgot some things, thunderclap usually just slows i wanted to completely freeze them in place, so i used the Ensnare buff instead of the slow buff it gives.

And the Ensare buff did not keep them frozen in place as i wanted it to, i also tried entangling roots but i got the same result.

Re-read my post. The buff only changes the visible effect, not what the spell actually does.

ah thanks that explains alot :)

is it possible to make thunderclap lower their movement speed to 0% then?

No, due to minimum movement speeds.

Why not just use war stomp as the base?
