How Many polygons?

hi, i was just wondering what the polygon limit is for a 3ds max model in warcraft 3.

Heroes should be around a little over 1000, units should be preferrably less than 1000.

Does anyone know how to reduce the amount of polygons used in 3ds max because i made a model with way too many polys. It has 1800 polygons.

800 is fine for a hero too.

Well of course less is fine for a hero...but Im saying maximum should probably be a bit over 1k..

Welding vertices that are close together will reduce it.

Removing verticles you dont see helps as well. It it has a cape or mantle for example, you could delete part of the back underneath it, you will never get to see that in-game anyway.

don't do anything, 1800 is just as fine for today's GPU's.

Are you sure 1800 polys is ok? Will the only negative effect be a larger download and load time?

Medium Unit: 375
Big Unit or mounted: 500
Uber units: 525
Small Building: 300
Medium Building: 600
Town hall building: 800
Tree: 75
