this is a very shiny effect that i'm working on called a water magic. its basically a nova of water. btw, this is the world editor preview i just took it in the boundary area because it enhances the pictures quality lol. if u don't believe me, look closely and u can see the spots of rocks from terrain =P *added the picture for my inspiration but ignore the yellow stuff on the left, another effect is in the way lol* |

Looks cool tho doesn't look like water as erwt said but if you want to hide the terrain press Ctrl + T twice. |

I remember seeing it into a PM you sent me. How many polies? It looks a bit highpoly. ~Daelin |

I'll check it out as soon as I get home, it would fit perfectly in my map :) |

its like 5 polies lol, i ONLY use particles cuz i can't really make models yet and thx for telling me about the control+T thing, that would help A TON! btw, it shouldn't exatcly look like water, only the blue resembles the water. splashes look kinda ugly in my opinion so i think i'll leave it like this. the blue spike things are what i call the splashes =P |

JetFang... I saw that you mentioned this on Ribbon Auras too. Both ribbons and particles cost polies. Each single particle is 2 polies, and ribbon polies depends on "sides on second". If the sides are too many, then there will be a LOT of polies. Indeed, particles make the polycount of a model to vary because of the way they appear and disappear. You can check the correct polycount only if you have 3dsmax with art tools. At preview model, look at the top-left side of the screen. You should see a thing called "Tris" and near it a number. That number is the number of polygons your model has, because in warcraft 3, we refer to the triangles when saying polies, because those count. Oh, and maybe you should hide the grid in the preview because it increases polycount by 4. :P ~Daelin |

never really knew that, i guess my model is about 30-50 polies xD |

Looks badass but not wet. |

well i don't know how to create the "wet" effect because that would be modelling and i only create particles >< |

For water fx sometimes its better to use a blend filter instead of additive, with additive looks more like energy or ice. And also what mostly makes the water elemental look like water are the particles, try searching for textures that are alphaed to look like water... |

actually i will post my inspiration and u will see that it doesn't look like water either. however, it's just called water magic and doesn't exactly resemble water. its supposed to be a giant nova of blue and white and that's what i made. in a real water nova, i would use the waterblob texture and use blend filter but it looks hideous in my opinion so i did this instead. |
