Yaaay! Keep up the good work. Ummm.... for your orc portrait, are you thinking of keeping it mono chromatic? Or do you plan on shading with complementary colors and such? |

This looks rather like a scamp from the TES series. |

Add some brown, orange, yellow, lime green and dark green into the mix. Get some reference from good artists you like or would like to emulate (to a certain point). |

It's actually working better in the first version. That blue background is too saturated and throws us off. Saturation pulls things into the foreground, and you're confusing that relationship here. Also, let's get more values on the body, darker darks and lighter lights. The sclera isn't often lighter than the lightest point on the skin. The veins in the eye don't do anything, and the orange forms a strange relationship with the blue and green. I'd have to agree with candy that browns and other warmer colors will harmonize the color scheme more. The cast shadow on the ear is welcome, and I should say I like the hard edges and choppy shading on the first; adds more confidence than the softened shadows and highlights in the final. Keep at it, and good work. |
