So, we all know the fly height trick, where you add crow form and remove it. Then you can set the unit's fly height as you like. However, if you attempt using entangling roots while the unit is flying, or ensnare, the unit will lose its flying capability forever. Just thought I'd let everyone know about it. |

Do the roots pull the unit down to the ground, when it's flying? |

yep. |

Good that you posted this, could REALLY screw people over. To be more specific, is it only if you cast it on a flying unit or try to fly the unit while they are entangled? |

I suppose in a twisted way it makes sense though. I mean... The spell roots a unit to the ground, I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard wired it to screw with assuring a unit's fly height was forced to be 0. You've explained it to me before, and not like I was ever planning on using Entangling Roots anyways, but it's a weird bug for sure. :P |

Yea but its good for others to know, instead of spending time like me trying to figure out why the hell units arent flying sometimes. Chuckle, it happens if you only cast it while the unit has a higher height then its default, it doesnt happen if its cast on a flying unit by default. For example, you manually set the height of a unit and then do the entangling, then it will screw up. |

Alright, you never said much about it on msn. @Dusk, you know I wouldn't be surprised to learn that these "bugs" are all just a sick joke on the part of Blizzard to screw with us. |

Does that mean even if you add and remove the crow form ability after it is entangled/ensarned(when its fly height is higher than its default height) you still cannot change its flyheight or it just means that you only have to add/remove the ability again after the ensare/entangle |
| 09-15-2006, 12:30 PM | #9 |
It means that the unit will never fly again, even if you add/remove the crow form ability again. |

That is a pretty damns serious bug, would a check function that sets the unit to its default fly height, entangle/ensare it and then change it back to its previous fly height fix the problem? |
| 09-15-2006, 01:13 PM | #11 |
no, i repeat, once you set its fly height then cast entangle, you can NEVER change its fly height again. The only solution is not setting a fly height if the unit has the entangling roots or ensnare buff. |
| 09-15-2006, 01:23 PM | #12 |
ouch, have you tried adding unit type flying and removing ground? Always wondered if they worked or not, but never tried em :P Othervise I suppose you need to make flying units invulnurable :( |
| 09-15-2006, 01:26 PM | #13 |
Eh, thats not gonna help making them invulnerable, because they're not invulnerable when you cast entangling roots on them, and if you cast entangling roots and then try the fly heigh trick, its gonna do the same problem. |
| 09-15-2006, 01:30 PM | #14 |
You said it only happens if the unit has a higher fly value than default, it bugs even if you cast it "before"? |
| 09-15-2006, 01:38 PM | #15 |
It is not a bug, the flying trick is the bug actually, I guess blizzard was not prepared for this, but how does it affect units that morph into fliers? |
