Take a look at some warcraft models' faces *in wireframe*. Expecially portraits.

He's probably looking for a specific tutorial. I would suggest looking around the Tutorials here on wc3campaigns, then checking http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Tutorial&sid=B.

and how on earth is model/texture importing related to modeling a head?

I'll try to make a short modeling tutorial when I have the time. In fact I'll try to make a modeling/animation combo. Just don't expect it any time soon, most likely after x-mass.

Just start with anything. Dont stop to wonder what would be best, just experiment and try stuff.

ohoh, and in the mean time, it would be very nice to check out this excellent tutorial wich uses a head modeling technique that I personaly don't like and don't use, but it's extremely usefull nonetheless, especialy for begginers:

It's the "Organic Modeling" series. It's great and it's video :-> and most importantly free

you can 1. take a head from another model mold to whatever you want or 2. yea start out with a box and first adjust the verticals to where the main facial features going to be then second mold it out into a skull blalbalba you get the picture
