Yes, it's based on an existing game. ![]() So, here's the deal, i'll keep it short so people don't get tired of reading. I've been working on this map for over a year now, for as long as possible i kept it a solo project, but i got too ambitious and expanded. Some people have already done some resources for me, but i'm going to expand again and make it even better. Some info on my map taken from my website, www.sczonecontrol.nl: Quote:
Now, soon Doomhammer (yes, the doomhammer from here) will convert all my crappy GUI-made code into optimised JASS, this will improve my map in performance. Accompanying this improvement, i'd like to get the models i use redone, since they just don't meet up to the standard i'd like to have. The animations are poor, textures are broken (can't be altered, 700kb, can't reduce quality/optimise) and attachment points are misaligned. Thus, i need people to help me make these! I can do the following things myself: - Making the map itself, triggers, terrain, units, spells. - Basic photoshop, retouching and optimising. - Website management I've got the following persons currently helping me: RDZ - Modeling + animating Doomhammer (soon) - Code optimising I need: - 2d artists to make skins for models and a new tileset/terrain art. (optionally) - Another modeler to get things done faster Naturally, credit etc will be given like it should be. Mark!^.^ This is still probably my favorite warcraft map. Too bad I haven't played it in awhile:( And in those screenshots I don't see any of the stuff I made:P What models need skins btw? Sorry I'm so busy, but best of luck on finishing up this map. |

Are you going to change anything to do with the gameplay?? new gametypes?? anything else? If you don't mind giving me a copy of the game I can du teh JASS for any new gametypes. or optimize. |

Id recommend> - Making units slightly bigger - Reducing the amount of units spawn - Increases Health quite a bit This would lead to more control and allow some micro in there. Currently its mainly just using the all attack location beacon and just focusing on your upgrades. Controlling e.g. 10 Marines with 100 Hp / 10 dmg IMO is much better than 50 marines with 10 hp / 5 dmg ===== Also adding Firebats/Medics/Ghosts etc. could always be an option. |

Sorry to go of topic again, but I felt I had to reply. Co-ordinating large mobs and upgrades is actually incredibly easy. When ive played the map the main 2 things I am doing is simply. - Using the mass attack beacon - Upgrading Both of which I have hotkeyed 1/2. It is simply 'macro', which is alot harder instandard melee than in this. Building,researching/upgrading Controlling multiple heroes, several differnet unit types with abilities That is something that is extremely difficult I only suggested the above to make it more challenging and give 'pro' players a reason to keep palying the map to further master it. From the many games Ive played> - Capture the middle - Research additonal range/dmg asap - Research energy/mana shield When theres the scale of that many units dieing in almost 1 hit, it just becomes keeping units in groups and focusing completely on the upgrades. ========= I dont mean to dis the map and sorry if it seems that way. You can make how you wish. |

(i've attached it to this post for you - if you own a copy of starcraft, i'd suggest you try it.) The simplest gamemode is as close as i can make it to being like that map. The only thing there was 4 upgrades, expanding and a mass of marines. Since i found that the setup used there was maybe sometimes even too simple, i've added some upgrades and units for some more juice, but i don't want it to be complicated. Some things i decided on a long time ago: - There will never be heroes - Marines will never have any on-use abilities (except from stimpacks in simple mode) Like i said before, i might add in more custom units, and try to balance things out, but maybe you can imagine it's pretty hard doing so without messing everything up. - Besides, i need resources done, i can start thinking about new things when the old ones are settled. Since posting this topic i have not found anyone to help out yet; hence i chanced the goals a bit, first of all i need the tilesets to be done, priority #1. If those get done i might add in new/better models. So, I ask one last time; Will anyone capable of doing decent 2d art please be so kind to join Doomhammer and me in our quest to turn this map into the best possible map? I would need about two or three ground textures, with borders and one wall texture. |
