(8)Eternal Demise TD v.24
This TD is not just the ordinary TD. It is quite unique, as instead of automatically being able to build towers, you must gather items, and combine them INTO towers. The way this works, is there is a separate part of the map. In this part of the map, you have a gatherer. This gatherer is a hero, and it can gather items, and combine them into things. There is a full trigger list below:
Recipies:
Wood x 6 = Tree
Water x 6 = Ice
Rock + Flint = Arrowhead
Arrowhead + Wood = Arrow
Rock + Wood = Taser
Water + Poison = Poisoned Water
Poisoned Water + Shrub = Poisoned Shrub
Tower Recipies:
Flint + Wood = Simple Arrow Tower
Rock + Wood + Gunpowder = Cannon Tower
Tree + Rock = Burrow Tower
Ice + Tree = Ice Tower
Arrow + Wood = Arrow Tower
Shrub + Wood = Roost Tower
Magic Ball + Wood = Magic Tower
Tree + Rock = Burrow Tower
Poisoned Shrub + Wood = Corrupted Fountain
Shrub + Wood + Rock = Flying Tower
Tree + Rock + Magicball + Poison + Arrow + Fire = Arcane Tower
Taser + Wood = Electric Shocker
Tree + Rock + Shrub + Poison = Protector Tower
Taser + Tree + Poison + Magicball + Shrub + Arrow = Photon Cannon
Fire + Arrow + Wood = Fire Tower
Rock + Tree + Gunpowder = Catapult Tower
Water + Wood = Water Tower
Rock + Flint + Shrub = Spirit Tower
Taser + Magicball = Energetic Tower
Tree x 6 = Tree Tower
Iron + Taser + Wood = Machine Gun Tower
Titanium + Flint + Tree = Nuclear Silo
Steel + Magicball = Metal Box
Limestone + Shrub + Wood = Limestone Fountain
Lead + Tree = Lead Tower
Aluminum + Tree = Shrine of Death
Lithium + Shrub + Tree = Metal Tower
Iron + Tree + Arrow + Taser = Tower of Hope
Fire + Tree = Fire Trap
Rock + Tree + Taser = Rock Trap
Water + Tree = Ice Trap
Magicball + Tree + Rock = Magic Trap
Fire + Tree + Lithium = Thunder Trap

Now, about 5 of the items come later in the game, and this enables the use of better towers earlier in the game. The storyline is as below:

The town lay queit, poised upon war,
It sent out waves upon waves on the shore,
The enemy marching, the coming defeat,
The warriors charging, about to meet.
For a victory of riches and glory,
The battle was short and gorey,
The warriors lay dead, evil marched on,
The town had no hope of victory,
The townspeople waited, hoped for the best,
The first legion came, finally at rest,
With armor so bright,
Swords so sharp,
And so evil a blight.
They obliterated the city,
Drove people from homes,
Set things on fire,
As the dark lord's drones,
Dawn came to the city,
And the sun saw the plight,
It sent a great warrior,
The Great Holy Light,
The paladin came,
Armored in light,
Full of power,
From the sun's light,
He and the lord,
Met one dark night,
And had a feirce battle,
The Lord of Dark and Light,
They clashed and warred,
All through the night,
And on dawn's great rise,
The dark lord fell,
Peirced by the great light,
The light lord fell,
Dead by the dark blade,
The battle was over,
The humans had won,
But the undead were not crushed,
The enemy marching, the coming defeat,
Victory is turly on the brink.
(Story by: Lunarios)

Another very unique thing about this game, is the gatherer will level up, at level 5 will gain "alchemy" and at level 8 gain "Advanced Alchemy". These upgrades enable the transformation of rocks into metals. The alchemy is uncontrollable, and will create a random metal. Advanced alchemy simply adds more possible metals.

The final interesting thing about this game, is that every single tower is a hero, and it will level up, gain attributes, and gain spells. When you create a tower, you will choose from 1 of 2 classes. Once you choose a class, you gain a spellbook, and a spell. You gain new spells at level 2, level 4, and level 6, to get a total of 4 spells. Also, when the tower levels up, the attributes increase damage.

Overall, I hope this breathes fresh TD air into your lungs, because I'm sure the normal TDs may be getting a small amount boring.

FIXES/ADDITIONS:
-Only 1 ability per tower.
-Fixed the 6 item towers to make them possible to build.
-Added notifiers, to notify many things, plus sounds to aide them.
-Added many Abilities.

Enjoy,

wait this is... a w3m? But you talk about spell books and stuff?

In any case, just being a w3m with some of those features is quite cool..

Ahh, the w3m is misleading. I have tryed hosting it on RoC, but it doesn't work. :(

This is a TFT only map...unfortunately, but my protecter enables it to be saved as w3m for some reason...but it didn't work on RoC when I tested. It just didn't show up on the list of maps when I was in RoC.

Sorry,

OOhh this looks fun, I just might have to try it out some time. You say its TFT only?

EDIT: I have tested.

Great concept, like nothing I've ever seen before. however, It's very bad towards noobs. I ran around picking up random things and hoping they made something. Perhaps and easier way to find recipies, rather than looking in the quest log? Maybe a set of buildings that contains all the recipes and how to make them?

Although the idea of tower abilities is nice, it requires alot of mirco in order for it to be effective. Still, a good idea.

Your countdown timer for when the creeps came was running during the opening cinematic. I suggest you fix this.

You need a better notice that a wave has started. Many times I would be looking for items when I would realize the wave has begun already. Maybe textr saying "Wave X has begun!"

After awhile, there were too many items laying around, and it got annoying. Also, some items appear far too little (like flint) or they're too hard to spot.

I think that gathering 6 water for ice is a bit much, maybe 3-4? (same goes for trees)

I think you should have a default tower that can be built first thing, just so theres at least something to use while you try to find new recipes.

Could you please make a ping or some other notice as to where your gatherer is in the beginning? I first thought my worker was my gatherer.

And I think thats it! Great map, can't wait to see improvements! On a 1-10 scale, I;d say a 6 1/2.

I've actually tried this yesterday. It's not too bad. It had some original concepts in it, but it definitely needs improvement. I'm sure with further refinement, it can be approved.
  • I had some trouble figuring out recipies. Maybe add some color to differenciate between different ingredients in the Quests tab to make things easier to see what can make what, and include a description of what each tower does. On that note, "Recipe2" doesn't sound right. Make a list of "Ingredients" that says what ingredients are available and what can be combined into more advanced ingredients (XXXX + XXXX = Taser) and "Basic Recipes" and "Advanced Recipes" for towers.
  • I had trouble determining when waves came. I was too occupied with figuring out recipies to pay attention to waves. I noticed when we were losing lives, but I couldn't tell who was leaking. Basically, give visual and audio cues to alert players.
  • I couldn't find certain ingredients. Once new ingredient-types start appearing (not ingredients-types that already exist on the field), add a message that says something like "XXXXXXX is now available!". Again, visual and audio cues.

Oh, and also. Builders should probably move a little faster. I thought they were a tad slow, and towers should probably build faster too.

Disapproved.

I liked the ideas a lot, and I think it has a lot of potential, but implementation needs some work.

Major, major issues, which even the most basic testing would have discovered:

- Combining items was like taking a brick and bashing it against your head. I had no control over what items got combined. Trying to combine for those with six ingredients is impossible, as some other combination is made.
- When a tower dies, it leaves an indestructible mark that still blocks pathing. This means you block for one moment, the whole game is screwed permamently.
- The movable tower had no movement speed. Rather pointless.

And, as has already been said, telling people what is happening is kind of useful.

All right fellows. I am glad for the advice, and will use it for next version. Also, each tower instead of having a spellbook, will have an individual spell, which levels up as a hero ability. I love the notifying ideas, and was planning to add them for .24. I will add a notify for 5 seconds until spawn, and a notify for when new items appear. Also, I will add an ability to the lumber drop off, which is named Recipies, and have it say almost the same thing as the quests. I will also arrange the quests in a neater fashion as SentryIII suggested. Finally, I will fix the 5-6 bugs I have found and written down. I will then resubmit the map.

I hope you will enjoy the next version,

Alright, when is the new version slated to be ready? If its within 2-3 days I will hold off on my testing(not difficult as Warcraft exploded on this computer and needs a reinstall anyway.)
