I've noticed on B.net that there are some maps which are quite popular, and often quite good fun, but unpolished, like Illidan's Seven and Hero Line Wars. It made me wonder: what if we took these maps, and made wc3campaigns versions, kinda like how clan TDG makes their own, clan-branded maps. We might be able to show the average Battle Net user how much more fun a polished, properly finished map is. What are your opinions on this idea? Oh, and if you're going to denounce it on the grounds of not having the original maker's permission... The examples I gave are such generic concepts that they're pretty much free for anyone to use. |

I really only have problems with it on the fundamental level. How creative can you get with a "Hero Line Wars"? It sounds way too generic for me to enjoy making it, at least. I'm sure others probably feel the same. |

Might be interesting. There's a lot of maps on B.Net that, despite their lack of work and balance, are fun. And, anyway, those maps are normally stolen (Hero Line Wars is the best example), so stealing it again will not be a problem (nah, I'm joking). |

the only problem with these map are it is really hard to balance the thing up, and people rather to screwing it up and create imba hero than balance the whole game up =| and these game have already too many side-version *cough* of it, if you come out another one people will just think of "hmm ? another side-version ? bleh, i guess i'll go for other games" seldom we see people will think that "oh more side version !! lets play !!" for me, i think instead of polish the map made by others, use the time to make a better map instead, at least people will give it a try :P |

"the people" dont want "polished" maps. |

That's why I'm suggesting polishing maps that are already popular. Kind of like a stealth approach... |

a) it drags out too much b) there are some (maybe two or three granted) over powered heros c) tomes, tomes, tomes d) agility is imba not too hard to fix, it's kinda fun on a basic level. |

I think the fact of the matter is that a lot of the time the "unpolished" maps are much funner than "polished" ones. You can polish up a not-so-great idea, but that doesn't make it fun, a good idea to begin with does. I think recycling other peoples ideas won't make the map any better, rather than having a new idea and expanding upon it yourself. |

I tire of games that are over an hour and a half, excluding all RPGs. I especiall hate maps that literally stall for an entire hour or two. |

Part of the reason the maps are fun is because you know how stupid they are and can also make fun of that. At least, for me that's part of it. |

But what if these maps are popular because they are unpolished Quote:
Agility is the attribute that gives more stuff: attack speed and armor + damage bonus if it is the hero's main attribute. Strength gives more hp and Intelligence more mana |

Agility heroes are innately harder to balance because the agility gives attack speed, armor, and damage. Mass strength is all well and good, but mass agility (up to a point) is better. |
