I had just gotten 3ds Max 8... And wasted alotta money in the process. Apparently, 3ds max 8 cannot export into .MDL... Or at the very least I have not found any scripts that do so. So I have to download GMax, but, just wondering, whats the difference between the two? EDIT: No It wasn't a complete waste, I'm using it for a project that I'm doing. |

If you bought max 8 just for wc3 modding, then I'm sorry to say that you are a full. But for the rest of the business, you just got yourself one hell of a tool. I haven't used gmax, but the differences must be huge. More rendering and animation capabilites, more advanced subdivision surface modeling tools, more special effects, etc. |

Gmax should be fine for wc3 modeling (make particles with magos'). Scripts that work for gmax should work for 3dsmax as well. |

Oh sorry, didn't see that. And yeah, I'm using it for a project I'm doing... looks pretty sweet :D Although I could've easily done it in GMax, it looks better in 3ds max. EDIT: Thanks guys :D |

Yea the only REAL diffrance between gmax and 3dsmax is 1. Rendering(Gmax dosen't have rendering or aleast you need a script to do it) 2.Support(Minus the few games out there Gmax is losing its support so eventuly you need to go to milkshape3d or 3dsmax or maya 3d) 3.bit more tools(3dsmax has basicly what i call shortcut tools to where you can do things faster then you could in gmax) 4.Exporting/importing(Unless you done ALOT of research and working wtih gmax you have a hard time figering out how to export or import into diffrent games). |
