Upload Issues?

I realized in my testing, that I cannot upload any map that is larger than 2MB.
Even though it says the maximum is 5MB.

I have been talking with a couple other people as well, and apparently I'm not the only one with the problem.
Is this just the internet hating on me/us or is there an issue with uploading?

I just thought I'd bring it up, since well..
It kinda sucks. :P

Chriz.
I've had this with uploading .rar's too. I always had to make it somewhere around 1.6 to actually work.

Yeah, in trying to uploaded .rar's including things that went above 2MB it would screw up and fail as well.

I'm not sure EXACTLY the cutoff, but 1.6MB sounds about right.

According to other posts made here at the site, it is WinXP that times out the uploading to VB with files over ~2 mb.

You have to upload the file to another site, and then use the "Upload File from an URL" feature.

you can split the file in 2 rars and tell an admin to update the attachment with a complete file

Are there any known fixes to that?
Or is the Upload from URL the only way?

Tim.
That is the only way. Blame Microsoft.

It can't be only XP, I use Win2K and I also had this problem.

That would mean that all the people who uploaded something bigger than 2mb have win98; and I don't think that's the case.

Where ever Blade.dk came up to the conclussion it is XP's fault, I used XP to upload by http to many sites and it takes a lot of time but it it is possible.

It is a limit on uluru's server, probably for security reasons, you can't upload more than 2~ MB by http protocol, and it would be lame to complain considering uluru is giving us free, unlimited hosting.

Hey, I wasn't the one to say that first, it was Tim.

But nice to know what the real reason is anyways.

Yes, cuz windows is the only operating system ^^

Anyway, it's a servers fault. Http uploading is always a bitch, it has some security issues.

How would you go about splitting a map into small pieces so that they can be uploaded?

If you are using winrar, assing a size in bytes in the "split to volumes" section
