Extracting model parts

Ok, I am trying to extract some parts from wc3 models, but I encounter a lot of problems (the model simply doesn't appears, in-game) and I would be very happy if someone would post the exact steps you must do for extracting parts from the models (I mean, I played with geosetanims, nodes, sequences, all kind of stuff, but, almost always ended up with an 'invizible' model).

Thank you for reading this.

If all you want to do is extract a part of a model (i.e. making some part of the model a seperate, static geoset) it's pretty simple to go about - and you needn't touch any of the areas you mentioned.

In vertexmodifier you could do something like this:

1. Open the .mdl of the model you want to extract something from.
2. Select the part of the model that you want to extract.
3. Go to "Edit -> Invert selection".
4. Hit "Delete".
5. Save the geoset: "File -> Save Geoset".

In gmax (for instance) it's the same principle.

EDIT: You can also refer to the last part of this tutorial.

Hope this helps.
