e.g. Mr.123 made a racing map called WarCART and he didnt protect it, then some newbie stole it and even made a official website for the stolen map, and now most people now think that the newbie made the WarCART map, not Mr.123 2. no massive newbie-mods of your map roaming all over battle.net e.g. ever played a "51 SUPERB GLADIATOR HERO AREAN BEST VER VERSION 10.9264!!!!!!!!!!" map only to find a invincible demon hunter that slice&dice heros like tofu? |

3) No good mods of your map (they do exist) 4) So that you don't have to spend 30 seconds imbedding your name in enough places that it is hard to steal The noob mods of maps are annoying, but incase you haven't noticed, the noob mods are the ones that get played. There are very few protected maps that actually get played in any volume on bnet. Sure, you could just call them noobs and not care, but then why bother protecting the map? Also, Zepir was (I'm not sure if he still is) claiming that his map protector put enough stuff in that its impossible to remove your name. Why not do something like that, but not actually proctecting it? If it is going to take more than 10 or 15 minutes to take your name it, noobs will either not bother or miss enough that you can prove it is yours, and once again, why the hell do you care what they think? |

Guest | well considering the effort/time/love most of us put into our maps it would only make sense to want to protect our creations, and while I dont particulairly care what n00bs think i still want my name on something i created. So i guess ill go and protect it now :) |

I can understand that you want to recive cradit for your map, but who do you want to receive it from? There are 3 groups of people... Those who see your map and like it, and look forward to your next maps, and possibly eant to add something in which is actually good. Then you have the people who don't pay attention to who made it, and the noobs who will be pissed that it is protected because they wanted to add some shitty feature. If you want to use protection, go ahead, but if your map does well, then once it is well known that you made it I suggest that you release an unprotected version. Many great mappers got started by making crappy mods to good maps, and eventually learning how to make good maps. |
