I've tried a number of things to make fade filters that have truly black backgrounds. None of them seem to work. I've got these images, with alpha channels, which have white text on a black background. But, instead of becoming black masks with some white lettering, I see everything that's happening on the screen, with some white lettering overtop of it. Clearly, the baclk is registering as "clear" but I don't know how to avoid this. Any ideas? Thanks! Capt. Picard |

Have you tried creating a camera on the map where it could be "all" black and then set it to that camera just for the fade? Just have the camera at the corner of the map, aiming outwards toward the sky, and have the sky set to "None". Also make sure the Z Offset is up pretty high so you don't see the ground or trees/birds etc. |

Check if your black background has alpha channel on it, Alpha channels are treated as transparency by WCIII in fade filters. |

Yes, the alpha channel was what did it. The real problem here is that I WANT to be able to see the action on the screen as the text is fading in and out, but while the text is fully displayed I'll be moving the camera, moving the actors, etc. I just removed the alpha channel and found that the fade filters still work fine, and display black like I want. |
