Do trigger comments take up space?

HI!! I'm a new map creator here, and I've got a question

I use trigger comments a lot to organize my triggers on my maps, how many is too many? Do they really increase the map size?

Theoretically? Yes.

In practice? Not unless you compose a novel.

Given how much they are compressed, the file increase rate due to its existence is very low. A few kBs tops.

Cool, thats good to know. I'm quite a neat freak with trigger organization

no they really don't take up much space in my experience in map making.

bump?

Some optimizers clean up trigger comments I think, so if youre using one of those it wont even increase by 1.

Which optimizers can help reduce the size of trigger comments Thunder_Eye?
Can Vexorian's do that?

Vexorian's should be able to do it.

I'd presume it was one byte per character. So you'd need more than 100,000 characters (more than 10,000 words) to make any real difference.

Last I recall, .j files are encoded in utf-8, so they could use more than one byte, assuming the author uses special symbols like ñ or something.

Trigger comments don't get compiled into war3map.j to begin with. Just delete war3map.wtg for your releases (which any optimizer will do).

the optimizer (as it should) removes all the kinds of giberish that are not needed by the game, that obviously includes GUI , the 'trigger comments' and all of JASS' whitespace and comments.
