Someone want to explain this to me please???

It was posted on the warcraft3.filefront.com website's news section.

Quote:
That's right...if some of you have been trying to get into wc3campaigns.net, and wondered why you couldn't...then wonder no more, it's official. This is truely sad news for the Warcraft community, as this site was an emmencely popular site that had a thriving following. wc3campaigns has shut down due to circumstances that were out of its control.

This is the official farewell post made on the site by Draco:
"At this point in time, it is no longer feasible to continue the development of Wc3campaigns. Due to some unforseen circumstances, the former server owner was no longer interested in maintaining the server that this domain was hosted on. Instead of removing the database completely, I will provide it in its current shape for anyone that is interested in searching the content. In addition, private messages will remain active. You may read your messages on this page. It is strongly recommended that you save all content on the site that you wish to be saved to another location. The new forum software will still be developed on this domain most likely, but it won't be ready for another year or so (it was never intended to be used on this site anyways). Thanks for visiting and supporting Wc3campaigns; I'll see you around~

- Draco"

Alot of aspiring map makers got their start and/or got alot of help and knowledge from the people at wc3campaigns since it first opened it's cyber doors in 2002; The effects of this site shutting down will be felt across the Warcraft community, for some, it will be stronger then with others; Sad news indeed.

This is OLD news, Tim. later took up the responsibility of handling the site if I recall correctly. However, I believe Tim. is now trying to fix the current state of WC3C so that it will be running normally again "sometime" soon, when, however, is a mystery.

Draco isn't even here anymore. Hasn't been since that incident a long time ago.

Those guys are kind of extremely missinformed.

Whatever is happening depends on Uluru and Tim has been trying to contact him, he will eventually get contacted or even the issue might be fixed automatically, we are not really sure.

First off, Let me apologise for the inaccurate news that was posted at WC3Files, the news post has been removed, and replaced with a public apology to this site and it's members, along with a link to this site.

My intentions were not malicious, and as I could not access this site, nor received email notification or anything else to inform me that the site had moved, I took the information that I had received to be true.

Although I am grateful for the correction (that I can only imagine was left by a member of this site) to my news post, and the link, I was somewhat dismayed by the comments that were made with it; I appreciate that the news post itself was incorrect, but add it to the fact that the previous url is no longer valid, and I'm sure any reasonable person would understand where I was coming from. This is no excuse for not exhausting all avenues of confirmation, but I believed it to be true nonetheless.

don't worry apology was not really needed anyways, I recognize this site is in a sorry situation, sure the users are still active but we cannot have new users until this is fixed.

I understand the mistake, that Draco post is legit and if you wouldn't verify the year of the date it would look as a confirmation. Let me close this topic anyways.
