Revan

Made with the Vertex Modifier and Warshape. Model, animations and texture by me. Special thanks to Guesst for rigging, Magos for his editor and Rao Dao Zao for info about matrices and vertexgroups.

The texture path is: textures/ (duh).

This is one of the last two models I was planning to do to advertise Warshape (the other still has to be finished). Feel free to modify it or use as a base model for something as long as you contact me first.

UPDATE: spell channel, stand, and spell slam reworked.

Darth. Revan. Is. The. Best.

You have no idea how much of a KotOR fan I am, and how much I love Revan, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Now do Darth Sion and Nihilus so I can thank you more.

If you ask me, this could use a lot of work.
The body itself is far too boxy, it lacks the proportions and that chest hurts to look at.
His torso is practically a rectangle with arms attached to a couple corners.
Also, maybe you should thicken it. Look at his profile -- He's practically flat.
His fists should be bigger and his neck seems rather long.
His upper arms need to be thicker.

Also, the animations seem kind of boring.
They aren't very dynamic, they just seem dull and lacking.
For example, in his run he should move more than he does now.
He should run and his arms should sway as if he were running.
As it stands it looks like a light, casual jog at best.

His attack animations look pretty good.
Also, perhaps his stand animation could be more dynamic.
If he were standing anymore straight he'd be at attention.

Overall it's okay --
But I still think it needs lots of work.
Good job though, Nas.

Eh, why make Revan when I already made him?

And why not?

@ Dusk: I'm not really sure what to say here. The only thing to wich I can honestly agree, is about the stand animation. As for the rest, I disagree completely. In kotor Revan could be both male or female, so the model was designed to respect that feature. The armor cover any possible hint of the character gender, and I simply did the same thing.
As for the walk animation, I didn't want it to bounce more than it's already doing, if that's what you mean. Regarding the others, I don't understand how they would need to look more dynamic.
Actually, I was expecting complaints on the texture, but sure not on the model and animations.

Well, I never played the game.
Never was a KOTOR fan anyways.

So I'll take your word on the gender thing --
Although I still think he/she/it needs better done shoulders.
As of now they're practically nonexistent.

I think if at least you made those a little bulkier and at least there then the other thoughts I had would pretty much vanish.
And to be honest, the texture looks fine. :P

In the official Star Wars lore Revan is male.

anyway, now for a propper review

Good:
- love the stand ready anim
- has a lot of anims, but not too many
- good poly count

Bad:
- stand and walk anims are a bit roboty
- texture doesn't look very good up close and needs more contrast, also doesn't have any fingers
- some minor anatomical issues
- lightsaber is too short, and hilt lacks detail

Overal a nice model, but does have quite a few issues

I asked you first, but I'll tell you why not, you could better invest your time and skills in a character that has yet to be made of the same theme.

Like Darth Sion, which has never been made but is the coolest sith lord eva.

Anyway, this is a very nice one, but I agree with most of what olof said except for the hilt, because hardly anyone playing revan gives a damn about the hilt. Maybe make him double-sabered? That would be REALLY cool, especially with the real chracter's fight anims.

In almost 3 years that I've been here I saw many versions of the same character, but it's the first time that I hear the "I did that first" argument. So what? Mc! did a Grievus model, did that prevented you to make your own version?

And also, this was meant to be more than a model of Revan. It is to show what can you do without having to find a copy of Max 5. It shows what can you do with Warshape. It's a character with a very uncommon combat stance and the attack animations are the most complex I ever made so far; it has an animated cape, and the animations are relatively polished; and all that was made with that 97 kb program. Everyone who's willing to learn can do that now.
I'm sorry Olof, but I don't see your point here.

The spell and attack animations are most charming. The walk animation looks sort of mechanical, but mine usually do to so I can't really make any recommendations. Except maybe a little hip movement and knees going out more?

Took me a year of working to get walks perfected, so don't worry about it. It'll come to you in the end.

But yes, a nice model.
