Favourite Ability Hotkeys

I wasn't sure if this should be in off-topic of general development, but it is to do with mapping so here goes:

What is everyones favourite ability hotkeys for maps where they control only one hero? (Or others which require hotkeys for abilities).

QWER? ASDF? AWEF? Post your favourite set of ability hotkeys here (assuming most heroes have 4 castable abilities, but if there are more, they could just expand to QWERTY or w/e). I wanted to know what everyone preferred to use so I can implement it in the map I am making, and I am sure it would be helpful to others too . I wasn't too sure what hotkeys would be best, because it is quite important to be able to use the alt key, so I was wondering what everyone elses opinion was.

Thanks.

I've always been fond of ZXCV.

But really it doesn't matter as long as you have them universal across all heroes. In my opinion it makes everything so much easier if you can just pick a hero and know immediately what the hotkeys are.

Others would of course disagree.

QWER and ZXCV are nice, but ASDF can pass too. Why? Because usually my right hand is on the mouse while playing (duh) and these letters are placed on the keyboard in the area which is the most suitable for my left hand.

I like the QWER, ASFD, ZXCV format, as well. This way, I can keep my right hand on the mouse to manuever and my left hand to click hotkeys easily.

Pressing alt while using the hotkeys on far left side (QWER etc) feels a bit weird. How about the neglected right alt key? Perhaps there could be some hotkey setups like GHJK/HJKL, leaving your right thumb on the alt. That seems to be quite good, but you would have to have more room on your desk so you could slide your keyboard across a bit, and it could be a bit weird chatting after that... but then again at high lvl play people would be using vent. Whats everyones opinion on using hotkeys on the right half of the keyboard (making it more "alt friendly" lol)?

I prefer the generic ones. (ASDF, QWER, ZXCV, etc.), mainly because its so simple, rather than trying to use a combo that involves A and O. Bad idea.

And universal hotkey setup would make me piss myself with happyness.

WERF, that way I can hotkey num7 to Q.

QWER/WERF etc makes using the alt key hard tho..
@darkwulfv: It doesn't involve A&O, GHJK with right thumb on alt seems comfortable to me, just wondering what other people think about it.
@Ryude: I just mapped num7/8 to extra buttons on mouse, which works with any hotkey setup.

My mouse has no extra buttons though.

Erm???

A = Attack
S = Stop

Doesnt that dismiss them being viable hotkeys?

I prefer
QWER

- Im just used it now
- Its close to A so I can attack move and be rdy for spells
- Its on left side fo keyboard, easier to rest my hand

Am I the only one who prefers associative hotkeys, you know, ones that actually appear in the name of the ability? The way default Warcraft III does hotkeys seems the best to me.

You don't need associative hot keys if you are using a standard array. Plus standard arrays are generally more easy to access and more intuitive.

There's a reason a lot of players mod the way melee hotkeys are positioned.

No, I'm the same way. I'm not sure why to tell you the truth, as it seems like qwer or similar would be easier. Maybe it's because I WANT the heroes to feel different - even the small things like hotkeys can help with that.
