"The Underdeep - Dying Grasp of the Evolution

(The map is set just before the beginning of the frozen throne, just as the Naga have been awoken, and are preparing for their surface invasion)This map is an ORPG, but unique (to my knowledge) in that it actually takes place underwater. The map is centered around a dying race, known only as the evolution, wherein there offspring grow and evolve as they age, before finally becoming potent spellcasters or monstrous creatures of humongous strength. The thing is, they are being attack from two different forces. The Naga, and the Mur'Gitur, a Murloc/Mur'Gul subspecies that survives only underwater. The campaign of the map is to obviously annihilate the perils that threaten The Evolution. But not all enemies are quite so obvious in their tactics...

History

The Evolution were once the greatest race to live on Azeroth, alive before even the war between The Forest Trolls and the High Elves (but not before the Nightelves). Their entire history can be recorded back to the time before the cataclysmic first coming of the Burning Legion, and the splitting of the world. They were a race of dark magic, summoning creatures from the great depths, to destroy their toys, the Mur'Gul and Murloc races. It all changed, however, in the splitting of the world. The humongous rent caused the Evolution to be broken in two, one lesser than the other. The lesser were soon annihilated, by the new race, the Naga. Led by their great queen, Azshara, the Naga lay waste to the great Evolution empire, destroying them until, in a desperate bid for survival, the Evolution let loose their pet monsters, their greatest magical triumph. The Kraken.

Destroying all that stood in their path, the 31 Kraken summoned by the Evolution originally began their intended purpose, to destroy the Naga. But there was one, whom broke free of the magical enchantments upon its mind, and released all the other Kraken from their slumber, annihilating the Evolution empire for their arrogance, in thinking that they could disturb the Kraken's great slumber. Now, all that is left of the Evolution is the city of Un'Thatarr, the last outpost. Attacked on all sides, and still hunted by the mightiest Kraken, Urthurdo, the Evolution stand upon the brink of extinction.

So basically, you're meant to stop the Kraken, the Mur'Gul and end up leading the pitiful Evolution army to victory against the massive Naga, whom are amassing for their surface invasion. Victory for the Evolution basically means to save their scales, so the purpose wont be to destroy every last Naga, but merely to get them huge resources. I hope that satisfies for a bit, a more in-depth explanation will be given in-game.

Looks awesome, but how come that royal guard has a sea witch icon? Change the Evolution's name, there are more better names. Pretty awesome underwater ORPG, btw, change the map's name, The Underdeep doesn't sound too good to me, nor does it even sound like a real word.

True, the name is bad. Change it to The Land Below or something along those lines maybe?.. Underdeep sounds cheap :P

Looks like a very interesting project though.

righto, name never really worried me, map isn't too close to finishing anyway. yeh, ive yet to change the hero's icon as i am lazy :P
how does "The Depths" sounds for the name?

What do you mean, the hero's name in the exp bar or the races name?

I chose the name Underdeep because the ocean is also referred to as "the deep".
So basically, you can go underneath it, which you will when you enter Kraken domain (much later on in development).

Maybe make the game called "The Rising" or "From The Depths" Besides that, it looks straight thug. Naga and underwater= da win. Also if any Naga skins are needed I will be more than happy to help you

Going underneath the ocean? You'll be in hot magma by then, the only places you'll see under the deep is the mantle and everything else near the core of a planet.


Tell me, what IS the Evolution? A hero or a race? I thought I read it saying it's a race..

i could definitely use some custom Naga skins, that would be great.

(Yes "The Evolution" is the races name. I thought he was talking about the name of the Hero, Evolved New-Born. That could DEFINITELY use a change)
I dont really want to change the races name. quite frankly, i don't want to come up with some exotic name that will make no sense to the story. The Evolution fits because that's all they know. they have no religion, they only have science and magic. so they believe in evolution.

However, if you can come up with a winning name then hell, ill wack it in. If you want credit for that then you'd get that as well. GOOD name though.

the evolution look like nagas. get some custom skins and models, msotly skins.

im looking for them, but it turns out that Naga skins are disturbingly rare.... or im just looking in the wrong place. i dont suppose you know some sites where i could get them?

Dark Brownish - Dark Maroon would be cool for a Naga skin. The name IS hard to come up with, and so with the race. But that should be no problem for you.
Also, I expect that your map will have good skins and custom models, they should not look like the Naga, or maybe slightly a look-alike but brownish in color.
