Changing the Minimap to a player color

In my map, whenever a player conquers a territory, the territory changes it's color to the player color.
I would like to also change that part of the minimap to the players color. So if red conquers the central territory, then the center of the minimap turns red.

I have asked this question before in another forum, and their recommendation was, to have invisible buildings that show up on the minimap. Thus changing the color. That has the desired effect, however the minimap looks blotchy now.

So I was wondering if you guys had a better idea, or knew how to change the minimap Icon of buildings, so that the minimap doesn't look blotchy anymore, and the coloring is area-wide instead.

kay, maybe this will work.
- make use of something that don't use in your map, for example, circle of power or goldmine, these are the unit that have different icon that shows in the minimap
- for example, the goldmine is a yellow dot, you can edit it and change it to something els... big and spesific colour, same goes to the cop and so on. (hmph... after some calculation... there is only... 8, 3cop, gold mine, merchants, 3 creep camp)
- then do the conquer and create dummy unit, the advantage of this is you can save alot of it dummy unit (the replaced icon can be big), and make your map less lag when create those dummy unit and also dont look blotchy

Thx. It worked great :).

But something even better happened while I was doing what you said: I found the entangled gold mine icon. That icon changes to the player color. So I replaced that icon with my icon, and I didn't have to create one icon for each player. Now it works great :).
