Here is a scene with some weapons I made. 31952 total. I also posted some pictures with different materials. Please don't complain about the one stuck in the table I'm too lazy to make it look more realistic. All made with box-method except the one stabbed in the table, that's a patchy sword. 1st: Modified chrome. 2nd: Steel material I found. 3rd: Some metal material I found. 4th: Chrome. 4th: Brushed steel material I found. 5th: Another brushed steel I found. |

damn, stop using the standard scanline renderer if you don't know how to use it well! Use mental ray if you have max 6+. If not, download a demo of brazil or vray for max 5. |

Maybe you should try mixing and matching those textures a little, you might actually come off with something visually appealing. |

I tested some mental ray renderer I think but it gace me evil dialog boxes. I tested another one and that worked better. The picture looks a bit better. |

show and explain me your lights setup and what materials did you use, maybe I can help. |

The models are nice and all, but shit, the textures are just fucken awful. It can't be that hard to find/make textures for swords? |

it also can't be that hard not to put "fuck" and "shit" in every sentence now, is it? |

.....why are there no shadows? |

@TDR I don't have time to give info about lights and such for some time but I will check it later. Thanks for your help again TDR. @Seruk I disslike most of the materials but I just wanted to add some extras. But the chrome and brushed steel doesn't look that bad IMO. If you look at brushed steel IRL you see that most of it's texture (correct word?) is just reflections, like so many other metal surfaces. @richie_lich I don't know much about making nice scense with light and shadows and such, so that's simply why. Edit: Ok TDR. I just have 2 basic omni lights. One at the roof and another in a lamp I stoped working on. If you want to look at it I uploaded the file. I use (primary) a steel material I downloaded called RT_Steel. It's in the material rar file. |

ok. what max do you use? EDIT: never mind, 'guess you used 8 |

Yes max 8 sir. |

holy shit are you insane? What's with all those modifiers on the swords? You could have just modeled it in editable poly, add a mesh or turbo smooth and that's it. Xref, edit normals, edit poly...pffff. Did you follow a tutorial or something? Oh, and sorry if I sounded harsh, I'm just surprised :P EDIT: tip: when you freeze textured objects, you might want to uncheck the "show frozen in gray" option from the object's properties. |

Eeeeeeeeek. I just don't know how I want it to look in the end. :| So I add things. But those tapers are needed if I want to make sure it get pointed and sharped correctly. :/ If I want to resize it I need an Xform right? Scaling it on object level screws things up as you most probably know. About normals I don't know much about them. But the single-edged blade has only 2 midifiers. :) I like patches nowmore. :) Why not having them gray? I mean then you can so easily see if its frozen when you are to make objects and use the autogrid. :| Btw I expected sharper feedback. ;) |
