... My first model. EVER. The pic isn,t using Smoothing groups... I don,t think I should have anyways.

I'm not sure if I should be rpoud of it... but I still have to skin it and UV and all those things. Gonna have to learn to UV. And animate.

Based on the star wars muckracker/crab droid.

It does look quite good, though, you need to work on the proportions and details a bit.

For a first ever model, you should be proud.

Chriz.
Can you show a wireframe shot, or edged faces?

After searching some more on the internet for pics, I saw there are still a LOT of things you need to work on.

Here is one of the best pics I could find

also very good for scale.

The 'head' is too simple, Olof's picture would be an excellent base for it. Also, the armour on the legs is too wide, if you look at the picture it's a fair bit thinner widthwise. Finally, i hunted down a few pictures to be sure, but i couldn't find a single one where it showed the crab droid with a big-ass gun like that.

I knwo about the gun, but when I played RotS, the crab had a big gun too. and god it hurt...

1- I need to add the little feet
2- I need to make the gun somewhere else, at least under the body.
3- size down the legs

and no, I can't show a wireframe view, because I have no idea how.

EDIT: I just fixed the head, and the cannon

right now I,ve got 1100+ faces...

also, remove the eye on the model, it can be skinned on later.

Domnt make the from legs extra big, make them all the same size.

To my knowledge the real Crab Droid from SW has front legs that are bigger then the rest, so he shouldn't make them all the same size.

Ok... if anyone can help me with this...

how the hell do I turn a gmax file into an mdx/mdl file? I know of an export script, but it doesn't really work.
whats the use of bones anyway... and rigging? I'm not even sure I did it right...

You'll need to improve you mesh first before you start animating, it still needs a lot of work

I think the legs needs more detail compared to the "claws".
