The Vikings are coming!

Here is a preview of a model I'm working on, a Viking Drakkar.
It will only use ingame textures, I'm gonna make the sail striped (the coloured stripes will be teamcoloured). the front will have a dragon's head on the bow, and I may also add shields on the side of the ship.

Update:
Added teamcoloured stripes on the sail and shields on the side of the ship.

Update Jan 22th 2007:
Added detail inside the ship, fixed UV and added rudder.

Update Jul 4th 2007:
Finished the mesh, now it's up to an animator who's up to the taks to animate it.

Yeees, shields is a good idea.

Anticipating the way you are going to solve mapping in-game textures to a wooden ornamented dragon head at the front, should be one hell of a job.

The dragon head probably won't have that much details like ornaments, since it won't be seen ingame anyway, but I'll try to add as much detail as the texture allows.

He uses Vertex Modifier, you cannot demand such things.

the UV mapping is messed up in the front view of the ship. other than that...nice

Mc !
Looking really nice, except on what TDR said. I would suggest you to use the Chimaera's Roost texture for the dragon head, it has an unused wooden Chimaera. Oh and also if you want to keep the texture of the teamcolored part of the flag had before you should try making a composite material making one of them the team color and the another one the old texture either with an additive, modulate, modulate2x or blend with some opacity material.

Yes I know, I'm gonna mirror one it, since one side looks better

that Chimaera's Roost texture idea isn't bad, I'll try it out and see how it looks, btw, what flag do you mean? the ship doesn't have a flag yet.

Sorry, I tend to call the sail flag <_<

ah, well I still don't know what you were trying to say about the sail.

Well what I meant is that you should try using the same kind of material team colored parts of other models use instead of just the team color.

The only thing you will need to do for making it look like if you would've used alpha with a custom texture is to make the texture part use either a modulate, additive, modulate 2x or blend with a 0.5 opacity material.

hope you understood

No, I stilll don't know what you mean, but the teamcoloured parts aren't plain teamcolour, it's the teamcoloured sail of the Human Transportship.

Guesst
He wants you to combine the team color with the sail texture in the TC areas using a tricky material, I think.

It is a very nice boat.
