could all files that are posted in like the tools section be uploaded twice? once as .zip and once as .rar so everyone can access them? otherwise some files become pointless

Is there even a program that can only open ONE of those two extensions? I do believe each and every archiver is made to open both.

the basic zip archiver that comes with windows doesn't open rar files.

WinRar opens both .zip files and .rar files, and hasn't this been discussed numerous times? Just download the software from rarlabs... it won't kill you...

ZIPgenius 6 does like, every extension. Plus it has a simple interface. I don't know the web address though. Google it.

EDIT: Plus, its 100% freeware, no need to worry about demos or anything.

And if you've got a Mac, Stuffit Expander (which is also freeware) will extract just about every filetype known to man. Excluding .exe's, of course.

Try ZipGenius or 7zip. Both are freeware and work great. ZipGenius is a bit bloated with unneccessary extras whereas 7zip is your bare essentials type of tool.
