Hi all, this post is sort of a introduction :)
Here is a model I've been working on.
The idea is for a basher/berserk sort of ... thing, right now i'm stuck on the animation phase, but the things are moving.. slowly ;)
The orange tatoos are going to be team color

Any oppinion shared will be appreciated :)

Thats pretty nice, actually, verry nice. Are you sure the polygon count (or tris count) is correct though? judging by the wireframe, it seems that it might have overshot wc3 polies just by a tiny bit.

Not that that really matters, the thing is looking wonderfull!

Reminds me of those elephant fellows from LBA II.

If you're going for a hero model, you're probably okay with that sort of triangle count.

I love it, though if you added a little more contrast, then it would fit better in the Wc3 style.

I adore the big axe

Thanks for the comments ;) I'm glad you like it
It's about to be a hero unit, so I don't think the poly (Tris actualy) are too much.

As for the animations for now only the stand-1 sequences is almost over, it just needs some minor fixes:

The only problem is the spare time... as always ;)

Awesome JOB!!!! I have an animation question: how did you keep the foot so still? Whenever i attempt to animate my models foot always moves a bit

I have never ever seen a new guys rep explode like this... Lovely.

I must say though, that this model seems more made with a first of third person vieuw in mind then a topdown like wc3, or any other RTS for that matter. Becouse the units are so small on your screen, the animations need to be quite elaborate to stick out. The stand animation might just be a bit too mellow, allthough i must say, it is really top notch quality.

Also, to fit into a warceraft III envoiroment, the texture could use some minor edits, like increasing the contrast a little, and expecially making the darkest shades darker, allmost as if they where lines.

EDIT: just stared at it some more, and i think the stand loop might be a little too long timewise, i'm not sure though. Speeding it up a little wouldnt hurt it much, and it would make it more jittery and fit into a wc3 envoiroment better.

Man, that's the support everyone needs :) 10x a lot guys!! I really appreciate it.

erwtenpeller, olofmoleman may be you're right about the contrast, I'll give a try. As for the animation - I'll probably speed it up a wee bit ;)

Jman11- With IK Chains (in 3dsmax) and then with a simple script to create some additional keys, so after deleting the IK chains the foot remains still.... almost ;)

speaking of scripts - in which section of the forum is the place to share some scripts I wrote while dealing with this guy? I guess they'll come in handy for someone else too.
