There are tons of nice tutorials out there, but I'm really sort of confused to the whole terraining business. To be honest I don't even know where to start when I make a new map. I have the brush list turned of and make new map upon opening prgram tunred off. So, when I do create a new map I feel lost in the amount of space i have to work with, etc. So among some general tips, maybe I should request help with something specific. The map i'm making is sort of like Card Shuffle. The terrain I want to use is a snowy land which is symettrical East to West. I'm not sure how to use the Grid or make it symetrical or anything. Hell, I'm not even sure how to request help about it properly, so any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

Depending on how semetrical you want it, you can make exactly half (turn on your major grid lines by pressing g once and find the half-line of the map) of your map in GENERAL terrain (base location, whatever..idk the map "Card Shuffle") and then once you're done. Highlight all the terrain you've made, copy it (ctrl + c) and then paste it to your other half. With that same terrain still highlighted, go to Edit -> Rotate Selection 180 That will give you a perfectly mirrored set of terrain (well, not perfectly...because it'll be rotated 180 degrees, technically). If you wanted to perfectly mirror it, you could skip the copy/past text and go straight to mirror horizontally / vertically. |
