Help: i want to get started in the Modelling Department

Hi,

Well I just "aquired" a copy of 3DSM 9 (The only version I could aquire) and was looking on how or where to get started.

To clear things up, I've never modelled anything in my life. Not even clay models.

I was looking for tips, advice and most importantly tutorials on how to get going. What I'm really looking for is how to model humanoids, so I can create Models for Warcraft III. I can't find any good ones, and the ones I can find, I don't understand how to do the things I am being told to do.

Sorry I wasn't entirely sure where to post this. Besides, how many people would pay the ridiculous amount wanted (Although I fully understand *why* it's the amount that it is)? Even the people who claim to have purchased 3DSM I don't believe the majority.

They give you a special deal for student licenses I think.
Just try GMAX instead. its what I have and it does the job.

How many people would pay? Almost zero. And yes, that makes them theiving scumbags too. If you can't afford it, don't get it. Simple as that.

Precisely. Where there's a will, there's a way (excuse the pun) -- modelling for Warcraft can be done with free/affordable software. There is absolutely no need to resort to theft. And if such a small thing can reduce you to the level of a common criminal, then woe for society.

Oh god, I'm very sorry to everyone who for whatever reason is offended by me obtaining 3DS Max illegally.

If it means so much, I'll never pirate software again (This was my first time, due to wanting a nice prgram to edit with).

Is there any chance of getting a link to some place that can get me started in the modelling business? Such as modelling bodies, etc? I'm really hoping to get good at modelling.
