I just updated to 1.21 from 1.20e today, but I've encountered a slight problem... I can't run Warcraft III via the "test map" button in the World Editor. Whenever I try to do so, it tells me to "Please insert the CD labeled 'Warcraft III.'", regardless of whether or not I have the CD in or not. I would go ahead and try inserting the RoC CD, but I can't because the CD is cracked (cracked as in "broken", not "hacked"); I run off of the Frozen Throne CD because that's not cracked. The other funny thing is that on a PC, you can run RoC or TFT from either CD, but on a Mac, you have to use the respective CDs. Is it only doing this because it wants to verify that I do, in fact, own a RoC CD, or is this some sort of error with the WE? Also, has anyone else had this problem? Jazradel, I know you also possess a Macintosh; have you tried running WE with the TFT CD after the patch? EDIT: I forgot to mention: I can run TFT just fine, and was playing a few games on Battle.net before I decided to do some modding. |

Erm, what? I can run TFT by opening it directly, but not via the test map button in WE; that's why my edit said. |

This sounds as something you'd have to ask blizz about aka technical support forums |

"Please note, Blizzard does not directly support the World Editor, so our techinal support staff may not be able to assist you". It says that (or something of the sort) when the editor starts up. Looks like I'm going to try borrowing my friend's RoC CD. |

They couldn't blame you for asking. I doubt inserting the CD would help, it doesn't sound as if that was really the issue. |

Blizzard themselves don't 'directly' support the World Editor, but if you ask on the forums you'll most likely get a blue response, i know i had several questions about the WE answered by blue on the Blizz forums. If they can help, they will, that little bit at the start just says that they might not be able to help and that they don't have to if they can't. |

And besides, if you can't play roc, you've all the right to ask them. |

I had this very same issue, but it only happened to me once. When I clicked the test map button again, it worked. Edit: actualy, now that I remember more clearly, I didn't have the exact same issue. It didn't tell me that I didn't have the CD in my drive, but that I was missing DirectX 8.0 or higher. Anyway, it worked on a second try. |

Actually when you think about TfT tends to do that to me, I just reinsert the disc then if it doesn't work an restart will on my computer -Av3n |

/Agree What i think blizzard mean by directly suppoting it, is if you have a problem (with modding), say you dont know how to make a unit float for 5 seconds then explode, they wont answer that, but technical stuff they will answer. I think they will definatly responde to this question, just not questions that are solvable by looking. |

Whoop dee doo! The problem hath been fixed. It turns out that I had a backup of WC3 on my external Hard Drive, which was making the TFT Installer go all wonky-jod. I ejected the HD and it's installing as we speak. I suppose this is common knowledge, but I didn't realize It would conflict, so I'm letting everyone like me know: Conflicting versions of Warcraft III will f-up the installer, even if they're on external Hard Drives. Je suis très heureux; je vais écrire en français! |

Pardon my double-posting, but I'm back to square one. I reinstalled successfully, patched correctly... and WE is still flippin' out. Here's what I posted on the open support forums (I also emailed [email protected]): Quote:
