So what, this is an icon maker?
02-01-2007, 12:39 PM#3
BlackDoom
It is an Icon maker in what concerns bordering. Watch the screenshot - and perhaps read some of its documentation. You only need your design. Any other standard border will be added by W3IR. You can also rename masses of files with only a few steps.

It's designed to remove repetitive tasks from your hands.

Please, take some minutes to look at its documentation. I didn't place those files in there just to take some space.

Ok, I cant really find any detailed 'documentation' most of it seems about the license and wc3search rules.

So basically does this do:
I have a 64x64 image, I can then using this tool, quickly make a
- BTN Bordered one
- PASSBTN Bordered one
- DISBTN Bordered one
etc. etc.

All with a few clicks?

Is that basically what the tool is for.

Taking into account that you are not required to have Photoshop for that... Yes, I guess it's quite good.
Plus, if you don't want to manually add borders to 20 icons in order to have all the standard formats, I guess it's ok again.

Furthermore, if you want to have them called as they are supposed to by current THW / WC3S / Blizzard standards, you can have that done by W3IR.

And "detailed 'documentation'" it's called "Readme.txt"... Over 30 KB of it... I wrote that myself...

Enjoy.

Your program is quite useful indeed. Just as a suggestion, you can put in the first post the Readme.txt as a hidden information.

Good tip. How do I do that? I am not yet used to WC3C's features...

This code: [hidden=Hidden Title]Your text[/hidden]

Produces this:
Hidden Title

Your text

I'll do that, tough there are over 40 KB of plain text. Things might get messy...

Thanks for the script tip!

I would not bet you can really GPL something that is reverse engineering blizzard's blp format
02-02-2007, 07:39 AM#11
BlackDoom
What reverse engineering? There are no BLP conversion routines.

W3IR only manipulates name strings, not file formats!
And all the components I used are free for commercial use or under GPL / MPL as well.

So, no, I would bet.

Agreeing with Fulla, I can't seem to get "important how-to-do's" in the readme's.

BlackDoom
Uffff...

You are making me rewrite the whole documentation...
So be it.

The entire documentation will be ready within 2 or 3 weeks.
I will make it available with the next version of W3IR.

New features to be added:
- settings loading from INI file (registry entries in the following update)
- tech-aspects-free tutorial
- detailed technical info

Keep in touch.

WILL THE ALMIGHTY
took me a while to get how to work it, but this is VERY useful.

Thanks for the good thought...

Wolverabid tried it too. It worked for him as well...
I hope more of you would find it nice to have...

@ Vexorian:
I am thinking of implementing BLP support for W3IR. Based on my own work, trying to detect how DX1 / DXT3 / DXT5 algorithms work. Or any way else. This will yet have to wait - I have a "real" life as well... Or I would love to have.
