So, I have been practicing drawing faces a bit and I made a quick sketch of what the three main human characters for the Lost Platoon would idealy look like. I didn't use a technical pencil this time, I just grabbed an unsharpened regular pencil that was lying on the table and started drawing. I think the result is much better this way, because an unsharpened pencil leaves less marks behind when you erase it. This nicely prevented my trial&error drawing style from destroying the paper before the picture was finished. :) I tried to convey the characters' character with the sketch. The left one is supposed to be thoughtful, the top one friendly and the bottom one not so friendly. When I asked iNfraNe to guess which character is which, he missed with the first guess, but after I corrected him he guessed correctly about the other two, so I must have drawn something right. :) |

The left (Asian type) looks like an asian type (seriously) the upper looks more calm & happy (maybe a bit upsmoked =) ) the lower one looks more like my father is you would make him more gorrila like lol ! & bit angry... |

I don't know if you aimed for a realistic style or a more caricature-like one so I can't say about face proportions yet, but you sure have very nasty perspective issues, and perspective is the same everywhere. |

The style was supposed to be somewhere in between, actualy. I normaly try to draw in a more realistic fashion, however in this case I focused more on getting the character traits to stand out, so I might have overexaggerated some parts - though the proportions don't seem that wrong to me, considering the variety you can see on actual people. The perspective is the same on the right two characters, it's reasonably different on the left one. Could you explain more about what you mean with "nasty perspective issues"? Note that this is a sketch, not a constructed drawing. |
