Well I decided to learn how to box model with max. Just some random model, I'm learning as I go. Me being a huge max noob I need some help. How do I snap together vertecis, fix how the faces connect in the second picture, and slice things to add more faces to a part of the model. For instance on the hand I want to split the end into more parts. |

Use the "turn edge" tool on those ugly edges you encircled. Its in the edge tools. (surpise) |

Why do you work with editable mesh? Editable poly has a lot more features and it's better. To snap vertices together use the target weld tool (hotkey ctrl+shift+w). To slice use the cut tool (hotkey Alt+c) under either vertex or edge sub-object level. |

E.Mesh is obsolete , meaning that E.Poly is much easier and comfortable to work with... And because exporters work with E.Mesh - You may always convert the model at the endAs for the ugly edges - just remove them by pressing BACKSPACE NOT delete, and then connect the two vertices. |

yeah...you're even better than me on my home turf of MAX modeling, and you're probably more of a noob at it than me :( but probably not. |

Finished the body, still have a lot left to do. I fixed the faces, but when I use the target weld tool nothing happens to the vertices. Also when using edit mesh it is 804 polies while using edit poly it is only 402 polies, what is the reason for this? EDIT: Got target weld to work, I'm so proud:P EDIT2: Okay so I grouped everything together, but for some reason I can't edit poly when I am selecting a group or multiple meshes. Anyone know how to get around this? EDIT3: Updated it. The belt took forever to make:P Dunno what's up with the weird mess up on the belt from the back view though. 1060 polies so far. |

Where's the love?:P And how do I poly edit groups? |

@ ur moms house. Also, that model is coolers, but all too slim for a dwarf. |

Well he might not be a dwarf, I really don't know what he is:P Little update, gave him an axe. I still don't know how to edit poly of groups though. |

This model is indeead awesome Now I hate you too :P |

Made a helmet so we will never know exactly what it is. It's pretty much done except I may add a few things here and there. I still don't know how to edit polys of groups so I can't weld things together yet. EDIT: It's 1131 polies so far. |

What the hell is a "polies of groups" ? And so far, i prefer edit mesh over edit poly for one simple reason: editable mesh has the turn edge tool, and the turn edge tool is love in a can. |
