This is my first try at making something do anything in milkshape... so its kinda bad. Can you (RDZ) tell me how i can make it better and more realistic? (movie in AVI format)

His body doesn't move at all (he will still be breathing while twiddling that, will he not?)

Motion at the beginning is awful jerky; kill off some keyframes in there, I think.

Anyway, I'm not actually that good an animator; Guesst or Nasrudin will be far better able to help you in this manner.

It is a start but I think this needs some work.

The hammer seems like it has no weight. With a heavy hammer like that, he would have a tough time stopping it for an instant like he does which it is straight up.

With some of the bones (foot, head), it seems like you have them moving quickly and then staying still. If you delete some keyframes to smooth that it, it will probably look more natural.

It is unusual for people to stand facing exactly forward and at attention. Look at any Warcraft unit and you'll see the whole knees-bent, thing. I'd suggest doing a plain stand animation like that first, and then the hammer swing later.

If I were you, I would call this animation a learning experience, remove all keyframes, and try it again going for smootherness and stuff.
