Umm, you need the Wc3 cd for the newer versions, because grimore is implemented into it

well, ok if there is no way to use amai without re-installing wc. Another question : do we need perl to edit amai strategy ? like the old amai.

by the way : congrats to strategy master for continuing the development of amai. I used to participated this forum years ago when it hosted by ai andy and it was the released of the new year edition of amai the last time I checked this forum ( I dont even remember what year was ...hehehe).

@shadowstrike: yup perl is still required for strategy editing

And welcome back to the amazing power that is AMAI
The new year edition came out at start of 2005 such a long long time ago

Well Grimoire is actually looking for a specific registry key (install Path) of the Warcraft III, so if you can use RegEdit you can possibly add it yourself.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III]
"InstallPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Warcraft III" (or whatever directory you have installed warcraft to)

I guess I'm missing alot of things about wc . I see there's alot of upgrade/patches, now I wonder which version of wc commonly used in here cause I can't watch their replays. Now I'am downloading the latest patches which is 1.21a, Will that work ? , please give me a clue..-)

@strategy master : Can't wait to see the power of amai.. as soon as I finish dowloading I will try it and I'll let you know my opinion.

You're not the only one who's missing a lot. I miss like 2 years of updates.

OK. I tried new AMAI, Generally there's so much great enhancement but there's some few thing that bothers me.

Here is my opinion

1. Maybe someone's already mentioned this, that now AMAI seems to be so passive, and not actively seek and destroy the enemy. Maybe there's many consideration before they start to attack or whatever I don't know.

2. They're not responsive to aid ally or help ally defense their base while under attack while the old amai does this job very well.

3. When the players have approximately the same strength of army, amai players seem to camp some place. This could be wasting resource for upkeep.

4. I wish as a player against or allied with amai. That amai should be more obey to my command when I told them to stick with me or attack somewhere in the map and they should do that without any consideration. -)

for example of my explanation here is a replay. This game took a long time to finish because of the non responsive / aggresive of amai players.

I think with every replay posted, the poster should note the :
#1 Version of Warcraft used
#2 Version of A.I used

That would make life much easier rather than trying to figure out which version to use, because if one of those doesn't match then the replay cannot be played.

@shadowstrike:

1. Hmmm interesting, i'll check replay

2.4. Team play is amai 2.50 downfall at the moment. I'll be addressing it in future versions.

3. interesting again, maybe amai crashed? I'll check replay to make sure

@Zycat: I agree, they should be doing that but some people never do.

edit: @shadowstrike - I've checked out the replay and the problems that occured in replay appear to be fixed already in the upcoming final version.

yup good idea, now I am using wc update 1.21a and amai 2.50 TFT RC2

yes it is a down fall for amai 2.5 in team player well, its too bad actually because I like playing in team and in large game like 4 vs 4 or even 6 vs 6. After playing several games in team playing I found out that amai 2.43 is better than amai 2.50 . I saw that the behavior of original AI come up again like after the ai players failed to destroy enemy based in early game then they stop attacking again until resources runs out.

Another issue that after losing a battle and their hero killed they keep sending some units to the battle area while there were many enemies still there and kill them easily.

I expect that future amai could play more human like, and they should not consider the enemy strenght before they start to strike but just consider their own strength. Because now amai It's like they only do the math.
