Fine, no more LOTR or DBZ maps. Lets make a map about ninjas or knights. Make up some ideas, good ones. And we will form a team and make this map. IT WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH DBZ OR LOTR!!!!!! GET BACK TO ME

I'm finishing up some work on various things, but when I'm completely free, I wanted to start work on a multiplayer campaign. Pretty ambitious, but I feel that it can be done.

My idea is to base stories on an author by the name of Terry Brooks covering the Shannara series. It would probably be more accurate to say these would be RPG's, but with the ability to load in a new map to continue the storyline in a different terrain, allowing maps to be much smaller.

I have a ton of ideas, just haven't talked to anyone about them yet.

Even though I'm currently working on my Dragon Ball Project, (and no, you haven't played anything like what's gonna be made here :D) I could help you terrain your maps, or possibly do some trigger work, although I'm already swamped with doing that for our own maps. Need a little help?

I love the Shannara series. Though I find trouble finding the older ones. Good idea I say.

To give a little background, The Shannara Series is a series of 6 books over the course of time. Though the author never states it outright, it is clear that the stories start out after "The Great Wars", which I refer to the equivilant of World War 3. Man had great technology, but the The Great Wars pretty much sent them into the old ages of sticks and stones.

The first book is called The Sword of Shannara. The story is essentially a race against time for a half elven/half human orphan to find The Sword of Shannara which is the only weapon that can destroy an ancient Druid named Brahman <sp> who chose the way of the dark arts.

As a means to protect himself, Brahman has sent out evil doers to kill members of the House of Shanara to prevent the sword being brought against him. Only one remains, who is the half elven/half human character.

There are a lot of aspects to the story line, and I think it would make for an excellent RPG. I would definately like to see custom skins for characters, and the possibilities are endless.

One thing I haven't thought about yet is there are actually two major storylines in the book, both merging at the end. Some party members actually split up, one set on the search for The Sword of Shannara, while others run off to help a major city from falling to the hands of Brahman's minions.

My first thoughts were to create an RPG for each book, but then my overzealous mind couldn't help but ponder the prospect of making a multiplayer campaign out of multiple books. There would be some cinematics that would help along with the story (which should be escapable for those that have played before but don't wish to wait around :)

Other than that, the Shannara series are excellent books, and definately a recommended read (and I'm lucky enough to have 4 of them signed by the author). :)

The books have a very generic map which essentialy just show the locations of everything. I'd like to stick true to it, of course, the terrain is completely up to us to create. I would like to split it up across a couple maps for a couple of reasons; very large maps with a ton of triggers takes forever to load for some people, and it gets harder to keep a smooth flowing storyline.

What I would like to do is work on some storyboards to get the basic story down so that those who haven't read the book can get the idea of what happens. I have to admit though, I've started rereading the book to refresh my memory on some of the smaller details. :)

I'll try and get started on a map today, nothing detailed, just to give you an idea of what the land should look like in relation to town placements, etc.

If anyone here happens to know the discworld series by Terry Pratchett? Anyway, my idea was to make a map of Ankh-Morpork and the players are the various members of the Watch. At the start you choose one of the pre-set mysteries and then the players have to solve it together. I won't need a team for it anyway, and I've already got a first bit of AM; so that makes my post here a bit useless.

BTW, when I'm done with my current project (by the end of this week), I was wanting to post a formal project revolving around my idea in the Campaigns forums. I would really like to see even some voice actors to really add some spice to these (another reason to keep the maps small).

I'm the type that doesn't like to do anything half@$$ed, and would like to see this become something truly great that people love to play.

That's so wierd! That exact same idea popped into my head when I was reading "The Truth" today. How about we make several maps, with each one involving the plot of a different book? I'm almost done with The Truth so I could do a map based on it. I havn't read a lot of the series though. I read the first two but they are not even about Ankh-Morpork :nono: but they are about Rincewind, so it makes up for it!

Ok, I came across a problem about water coloring, in that I wanted to change the color of it. I got some great feedback, and finally figured out somewhat how it all works. I'm currently playing with that so I can understand it and hopefully post and FAQ about changing the water color.

This idea came to me when I was thinking about a swamp area, and how to change the color of water to more resemble a nasty swamp.

Bah! i need some good ideas, I can do triggers really well, and I can do some ok mapping, hell i can even do so cool cinematics, but I just dont have any ideas for a new game type or something original and fun. I was working a map based on the "hunt" multiplayer mode from AVP2 and it's almost done, but after some testing, people told me that it was good, but not that fun. After murder at the mansion and murder at the graveyard i just ran out of ideas... bah! I give up... though Id be glad to help out with any large scale projects. Let me know if you need me.
