Summary:

I have always admired Savage Potato's work. His epic tale known as "Mathias Chronicles" impressed me with intense drama and intruiging twists. I took it upon myself to see if I can try to take what is essentially perfect and improve a bit on it.

For those unfamiliar with Mr. Potato's first campaign, the story tells of what happened in Lordaeron when Prince Arthas left to pursue Mal'Ganis in Northrend.

Features:

- Fairly nice looking terrain
- Stays true to the original Mathias Chronicles
- Mathias looks like an evil sonavabich
- Licensed music!

Team:

Med. MapGuy. Another one man project.

Progress:

As of February 18, 2007, I have with me the Mathias Chronicles Redux Demo. I must warn you - this campaign is very rough (Especially the last level). If there is sufficient clamor to continue improving this series, I will.

The filesize is fairly big for a demo, even with only 3 maps...

Mathias Chronicles Redux Demo
47 Megabyte Demo

To be perfectly honest, when I look at this campaign I am releasing as of today, I probably won't call it a demo. I would rather call it a "Pilot". If this campaign is successful in that people actually enjoy it, I might continue it. As you know, Mathias Chronicles is a 5-part campaign, I probably won't be able to go through the entire series, but again, I probably would finish the first part if there is some kind of demand for it.

Hope you enjoy it! Again, try not to mind the rough edges in the demo too much!

So SeruK... You liked it?

Oh yeah. I was going to add a credits map after the demo, but I sorta got a
little tired. But in any case, I'd like to thank Nasrudin for several doodads, I think... xXm0rpH3usXx for the plants and other doodads... it'll take a few hours to find out the rest. But thanks to them.

So... Anyone else have an opinion?

I was just trying to be funny. But otherwise, I haven't played it, but I can already tell it's pretty awesome. Plan on playing soon.

Well the maps are gr8 but there are a lot of Bugz
For instance i cant see the grunts...troops appera to be fighting them but they are invisible...yet i can hear them hitting with their axes
The first mision gave me the victory screen after i talked to the village elder
In the 2nd mission i cant find the dragon egg and i think there was suposed 2 be a gem of true sight somewere so u can pass the mine field...i could not find it!!!
In the 3rd mission lord picket does not charge along with his knights and does not fet killed by the orcs after the charge part is done...also smt wrong with the mountain king...i ended up with 2 of em ?????
So there are plenty of bugz
Bright side:
you did a gr8 job with the terrain and the look of the campaign...the original, especially the first 2 parts lacked in this area and i would like to play this entire campaign (all 5 chapters) remade by you!!!
Oh the baddas Mathiass model is i think a bit to baddass maybe make some of his armor not so black :D but the mace looks gr8
Btw what`s going on with joe`s quest ?
Edit: the knight`s model is very bad looks like a footman on a poney (thats my opinion)

Thanks for the good feedback. Yeah, I was aware of the bugs there especially for the 3rd level, because I basically altered a lot of stuff. Originally the third level had the player taking out another Orc base to the east of the Dwarven outpost. I decided that enough was enough and that it would be cool to get on with the charge of Lord Pickett. It seems another bug presented itself when Pickett didn't join them...

And regarding the badassness of Mathias... The skull seal could be changed!

Ba1100n_Drag0n, hope you enjoyed it a bit. The sheep models and stuff are available on the ol' wc3sear.ch place I believe...

Anyone else have an opinion..?

The next few levels of Mathias Chronicles is quite interesting. Most involve large scale armies and these massive battles. I suppose this was the appeal of the campaign (aside from the strong story), though I have to say that the story doesn't have that impact I was expecting because of the fairly crappy terrain and stuff... But I guess Savage Potato was learning the ropes of the editor, sowe can overlook this little fault...

If I do manage to do something for Part 1, I'll try to see how to improve on the narrative... As you can see, I tried to punch up some of the dialogue. Don't kill me for that!

Yeah the first parts lacked in the terrain department but luckly you are here and i admit i would really like to replay those massive battles :D
So please redoo the entire campaign (all 5 chapters) :D if u can

Wild, it took me weeks to completely overhaul the terrain of the first 3 maps plus the intro! I think 5 chapters of that might drive me to the looneybin

The massive battles are a great draw indeed.

Yes, there are a lot of bugs, like, I couldn't even play the first map.

Out of curiosity, does the original creator know you're doing this?

Because I'm sure Captain Griffen will ask the exact same thing.

First normally there should be no problem because Savage Potato will be in credits as I know Med. Map Guys former works if he is the same as the one from SA.

Second Matthias Cronicles were great work starting before Frozen Throne and each part was done better over time. I was sad when he left the wc3 scene.

Third is the Med. Map Guy here also the producer of Joe's Quest? I really like the maps - the story was good.

Last I think I remember Capt. Griffen, what campaign was he responsible for?
