Vulcansurge's ORPG "A group of warriors have arrived in the grand city of Goald'uan, after a long and weary trip down the Blackheart Road. Little do they know, their journey has just begun..." A new and exciting open RPG game, featuring real weapon attachments, custom spells, an advanced Save/Load code and a cool looking combat system. This map could be considered my greatest achievement in Warcraft III modding so far, and I would like to thank all who have helped bring this to fruition. Join your comrades, by choosing your mothership and entering the deadly battle grounds..." This is my new map concept. Think about all your favourite sci-fi space battles all rolled into one map. Features starships from many different stories under the Sci-Fi genre, such as Star Wars, StarTrek and StarCraft. Will feature custom models and realistic space combat like you've never seen before. Well, I played around a lilbit, I must say thats it is really good how you did everything with the quests and such, thats a feature rarely seen on other orpgs around. The only thing that bothers me is that you choose your spells by buying and that they're put into the Inventory. So is there any additional Itemsystem wich is going to be implemented? I mean it's an rpg after all and you surely want to equip your Hero with stuff... Everything else seems good so far, need more doodads and that to create more atmosphere but hey, it's a beta anyways, isn't it? Keep up the good work guy. |

thanks for your response. I spent ages on that quest thing glad you like it. I played master crafters and i liked being able to choose your spells rather than just have hero abilities... I didnt have enough room to actually put them onto the heroes, so they just stay in the inventory. Thats the reason they're so expensive, because you also need room to equip weapons, so you should only buy a few. I might think about later just changing them to spellbooks, if people keep complaining, but for now the system seems to be fine with the general public. I dont know what you mean by additional item systems... Im not a great terrainer, so i was just testing my doodad placement in certain areas, before i cover the whole map... tell me if you like the way i did it and ill fill the whole map. you've been a great help. approved. UPDATES: - Lightspeed Dash spell added. |

Hi Surge, OK, here are some more things I recognized while playing the map; - I definitely would go for the spellbooks as you said before but maybe that's only me. Just don't like the idea of bying spells and that they stay in your inventory. I'd go for two spellbooks one for active and one for passive abilities and then increase the nr. of spells while leveling; - let the player spent more skillpoints per lvl up, one seems just a bit boring. I'd go for 3 or 4 each lvl you gain, - Change the mayor quest so that it's allways shown where you have to go to. I wasn't able to finish it because I started the quest together with the bandit one and didn't look at the ping on the map. After completing the bandit quest I couldn't figure out where to go on. - Let the bandits at the beginning give more xp. Lvl-ing seems pretty slow at least for the first 5 or 10 lvls, - the wings are a nice idea but i would keep them for the later game since they look pretty godlike ;p Maybe make them a boss drop and give them matching abilities like blink or teleport, - I don't like the demonhunter skin, it looks a bit weird but maybe thats only me... - Change the color of the names of ppl you talk to, that makes it more easy to read and to see who's speaking at the moment, - change the color of the dmg. text that shows up if you hit an enemy because as it is now it seems a bit hard to find out if you've been hit or him, - change it so, that the shield is always attached to the right hand, because the demonhunter strikes mostly with his left one and like it is now it often seems as if he's hitting the enemies with his shield instead of his weapon, - your terrain looks pretty good so far, nothin to complain about it :p Only one thing that bothered me at the beginning was, that the streets in the starting town are a bit narrow sometimes. Especially around the big church building or whatever that shall be. Might cause problems if you play the map with lot's of ppl. ok, That's it for the moment. Expect more feedback to come soon... so long; |

Wow nice. Ill update what i can and post soon. Thanks alot. EDIT: ORPG UPDATES: - I made 2 skill points instead of one. Also made it so each level of that skill adds 2 to your attribute. Did this becuase the minimum for required levels is 1, so you cant be level 20 and have level 27 agility boost. Theres no way to make this gameplay constant lower either... Pretty sad aye? - I couldnt change the Mayor Report the way you asked because I couldn't set the ping as a variable. What I did was add another trigger which allowed you to go back to the Mayor and he would reping the location. Hope that works for you. - I increased the overall EXP gain, because I went to attack the gnoll camp at lvl 23 (theres lots of gnolls there, should be a great way to get EXP) but it took me ages to grow levels. The EXP gained is now 145%. - Changed the Wings to a different model I had, and they now look better because they're animated. JulZSurge, up at the top of the main city, now has the old wings. Will make a set of wings (maybe two) with those abilities later. - Swapped the hands of weapons and shields. I had them the other way aorund before because I was using a different model (reskinned blademaster) but I didn't like that because he holds his hands together when he attacks, and the shield would look like it was inside his body. The model I have now is actually meant to be for a jedi... Thought it looked cool, so I picked it... - Changing names from white to yellow. Good idea never thought of that. Its so much easier to read now. - I dont want to change the colour. I have however got a trigger which turns it off. Only the host can type this: -damagedisplay. theres also -spelldisplay, to stop showing the name of the spell being cast. - Killed possibly half the villagers in all the towns, which may seem other the top, but I just want to make sure... Then I gave them all the 'wander' ability, so it looks like they're walking around. Tell me if this is a problem. - Spell books are going to take me a long time. I have what I need to do them, but maybe in a later version. Thats it... phew... your really helping heaps thanks alot. |

I'm glad you appreciate my help, :p Too sad that noone else shows any interest around here in the forum. As it seems that you've put really much efford into the map it would be a shame to let it go down without any feedback The only problem is that I only play sp so I can't tell you how it turns out in Bnet or network seesions :-/ dl-ing the latest version, expect more to come soon... |
