Garageband Composing

Well. This is sort of a collection of songs I've created over the past few years with various friends. They're all made in the program Garageband on my iMac G5 (just so you can all bash me for buying a mac). Not really much to say except for that they're all made by me using internal loops unless otherwise stated, and I know none of them are in any way Warcraft III-ish.
  1. Acoustic Guitar: A laid-back guitar tune that never gets too many tracks going at once
  2. Andy Latin: A song my friend started and I finished; a latin-piano song
  3. Awesome Beat: A 3/4 over 6/8 over half-note triplets beat that I made for fun
  4. Bass Thingey: A funk-esque song based on 6-measure phrases
  5. Buddha Covered in Hair: A song in conjunction with my friend Cosmo; light synthesizer with drums and rhythm
  6. Cosmo is Tasy Like Tacos: Another song with Cosmo; a slower song that combines orchestra strings and effected drum kits
  7. Dance: An attempt at a club dance song
  8. Electric Piano: A rather lighthearted song, very likely to put you to sleep
  9. Giggles: A walking clavinet combined with a hip-hop/funk beat
  10. Latin Luke and Lila: A song with my friend and his sister; a lot going on here, and it's... well, latin
  11. Light Rock: A lighter rock song with some interesting piano/bongo/cowbell play
  12. More Ballad Piano: A fusion of 70's ballad piano parts and a rap/hip-hop beat
  13. Piano Ballad: Just a long piano line with a simple drum and bass line; another one to fall asleep to
  14. Rockinglicious: A song that rocks rather well with the help of some effected electric guitar parts
  15. Santa Clause's Jameroo: A Slightly funky, upbeat song in which I discovered some new tracks :D
  16. Southern Rock: A rather groovin' organ part collides with an altered steel-string guitar and some banjo
  17. The Matrix Has You: Heavy Synthesizers and some tweaked synthesized bass that could have been inspired by The Matrix; includes cheesy ending
  18. Uh...: More of a straight-rock feel with a clean guitar and bass part; one of the drum tracks is recorded by my friend Luke
  19. Vamp?: Just some vamp I made up one day and played on the piano; the thing at the end is a duck-call

If you could C 'n C, or just say "you suck" or "that's interesting", I would appreciate it. I suppose that's it; pardon my off-site hosting... the files were a bit too large to put into 1 big zip file.

Listened trough a few. You're pretty talented I must say. Too bad you're using computer stuff, you should go for the real thing!

Get some mics and record stuff!

Anyway, you have a varied taste in music I must say. Not really my thing, im more in metal, but its good to have a varied taste!

Cant really say more about it. They're pretty good.

Out of curiosity, which ones did you listen to, and out of the ones you listened to, which did you enjoy?

I personally like "Bass Thingey", "Southern Rock", and "Santa Clause's Jameroo" the best. And, though "Acoustic Guitar" is the one I put the most effort into for matching the chords/key of the song correctly, I find it to be one of the more uninteresting ones.

EDIT: I tried to rep you, but I've given too much out recently apparently...

Sweet stuff.

I'm currently recording master of puppets with a bunch of friends using GarageBand, I'll post it here once I'm done. Awesome software.

Master of Puppets... as in the Metallica song?

What other programs do you use for recording and whatnot, Andy? I've been using Djay for recording and playback, a little Audicity track editing, and putting it all together with Garageband when I record myself playing along to stuff.

Well, right now we're using Garageband to do the whole lot since we've never done a lot of recording, we just practice and jam together really. I think we'd need some more versatile and professional software if we were to ever put a demo together.

Andy, if you do any composing in Garageband, I suggest that you go into Preferences > General, and disable "Filter Searches for more relevant results". When enabled, it severely limits the tracks that show up in the loop browser.

Additionally, to stop those annoying "Too many loops playing" messages, change the "Advanced" settings to look like this:

Well we record most of our tracks anyway, but thanks for the tips. I do use the pre-recorded drums when I'm making rhythm tracks for practice.
