I've been trying to get a good looking parchment effect down for a while now, and this is my latest attempt:

Any thoughts on what I can do to improve it?
(It was brighter, and less textured, but somebody said I should change it, though I think it looked better...)

The image and text are just a demo, for all those who could not guess as much.

Make it look more weathered, add some variation.

Hmm, weathered in what way? Have you any suggestions on how to do this, or examples of any kind of what you mean?

As for variation, do you mean more like this?

the border of the paper looks too flat...
if it would have all those little cuts in it they would go up and down...

Chriz.: Saw it, don't like it. It also involves a stock image, and I prefer pure filters/layer styles.

xXm0rpH3usXx: I think I get what you mean, but I'm not sure how I might achieve such an effect... Anyone have any ideas?
