here's my problemS

1. After I backed up the War3.exe and replaced it. I placed the file converter in the WarIII directory. Every time I try to use the converter it says "The ordinal 697 could not be located in the dynamic link library War3.exe."

how do I fix THAT

2. So I backed up the version of War3.exe I just put in...and replaced it with the ORIGINAL. and it says "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00001d). "

that is ALSO screwed up. In short I have no options that I can think of so if someone can kindly help my problem out so I can continue edtiting my models and skins I'd be VERY grateful.

well, did you place it in a directory anything except the warIII main directory? it requires dll files from a 1.00 version hacked, and if you palce the converter in the main root well...lets say it is bound to give errors. Put it in a seperate directory and include the dls and stuff, then it works. Now you only messed up the wc3 =\

K yes I have it in ANOTHER directory at the same time *in a folder on my desktop* I tried starting the converter with BOTH versions of the WarIII.exe but that didn't work at all, as a matter of fact, it gave me the same two errors as before... want another screenshot???

Ok I have had this same problem (was posted in another thread by accident).

Here is how I fixed the "ORDINAL 697 CANNOT BE FOUND" error.

Steps:
1) created a subdirectory off of war3 called yobguls, placed all the files there (the war3.exe and the file converter).
2) Renamed my war3 directory to war3_backup
3) Reinstalled war3 on my hard drive.
4) Copied all of the .dll's in the war3 (newly installed 1.0) directory, pasted them into the war3_backup\yobguls directory that I created earlier.
5) Deleted the newly installed war3 directory and renamed the war3_backup back to what I had it as before

Bingo!!! It worked. Only problem is that it converts fine, etc - but when I try and close it I get an error message (running windows XP SP 1). At least it works though, so I can finally mess with .mdl's!!!! Yaaay!!!:ggani:

That would work out fine for me, cause my bro uninstalled and reinstalled Windows, but didn't delete Warcraft, so the game is installed but isn't in the Registry, so I can actually have 2 Warcrafts istalled. But what about people that have it in the Registry, how can they double-install?

Every time you install, it re-writes the information in the registry.

So, in this case, that's why you rename your old war3 directory to what it was with maybe a "_backup" extension, then once you delete the new copy, rename the _backup to what it was before, and you will be fine.

Example: My install was in C:\Games\Warcraft3
I rename this to C:\Games\Warcraft3_backup

I install new copy to C:\Games\Warcraft3 (nothing messy with registry)
Once I copied over .dll's etc or whatever I wanted from 1.0, then I delete the C:\Games\Warcraft3 (the new 1.0 copy)
Next I rename C:\Games\Warcraft3_backup back to C:\Games\Warcraft3

Not sure how else I can explain it. If you really need to edit the registry entries, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\ and go to all of the subdirectories and rename any directory mentioned to the one you want warcraft3 to point to (and if you are running war3 off of an old install and it's not in the registry, some of the tools on this website won't work correctly with it because they access the registry for the path to the WE program).
