I was just wondering about giving credit in a map. Is it necessary to list all of the models/skins/icons/etc. made by each person one gives credit to? Or can I simply list the people who made them? |

You should list what of their hard work, sweet and toil you are using. A simple list of contributors doesn't cut it. The point of credits is acreditation, after all. |

imho, credits in quests or external files suck, because people don't bother to look there... best thing is displaying a message every 2 minutes saying "model xxx by yyy" etc >_> |

> best thing is displaying a message every 2 minutes saying "model xxx by yyy" etc >_> For the players that would be plain annoying. The point of credits, believe it or not, isn't to make everyone sick of them. The true point is to let the people who want to know find out who made some model/skin. Why the hell should an average user care that some random xyz guy made BunnyRabbit.mdl? "WTF that even means?" would probably be the first thing he would come up with. It's purely your choice how, when or where you will put the credits. No one can force you to put them anyway. However it is a nice touch to make it visible and clear. If nothing else it makes the creator happier. |

I would say something like: Thanks to MAKER for HERO'S model. (MODEL PATH AND STUFF HERE) |

As said earlier, with the XXX did YYY, do that in the quests, then make something that pops up every 2-3 minutes saying something like: "Thanks to all the people who did the hardwork such as (Random Name in credits) for (What that person did), other credits are found in Quests." |

uh maybe do that once, every 2-3 minutes is utterly stupid, why even use other people's materials if you are going to degrade the quality of your map with non-stop irritating messages |

Exactly. You're just using a model he made available to everyone, you don't have to sell your soul for it. |

mark models with name of its author eg blademaser made by dummy dymmys_bm.mdl any one who try to extract model will get its author name |

Label each file you download appropriately like "RandomFXpack by JetFangInferno" so that you can easily list down the authors and what they did that you used in the map. |
