this was for my last university project. We had to make an art exhibition gallery out of maximum 9 5.10x5.10 square modules with a maximum interior height of 3 or 4 something, I forgot. This is what I made, basically a bigass concrete sausage. They liked the idea, but I made the drawings so ugly that I thought they'd kill me (I made them in 2 hours, from 2 to 4 am, so yeah...). Despite that, I took a fairly decent grade for it. Now for the current project I must make the drawings (oh, by drawings I mean facades, plans, etc. ; those must be done by hand) flawlessly or the teacher will be really pissed :S. Anyway, about the technical side now. Made in 3ds max 9, rendered with great ol' maxwell render, polycount irrelevant. Grass and trees were added in photoshop. |

I refuse to believe that this isn't real. |

Mhm i don't know what exactly it is, but there are a few things that look very odd, and ruin the imagination of a real picture. Referring to the outdoor picture I think this is mainly because: - Odd green blotch in the shadow of the sculpture and the concrete building - the transition between the grass and the groundtiles is too linear - the shadow of the sculpture is missing i think (not sure) - One can easily the that the "tree" is a plane and the shadow looks odd - theres a strange distortion in the reflections of the window i also noticed in some other render pictures from you maybe this helps you, maybe not |

At first, it looks like a prison in which you're always hunted... omg, liek Eternal Prison in Blood Omen 2 :o |

Yeah it looks VERY realistic... but the shadows of the trees and the sculpture look somehow weird I think the shadow of the trees is to sharp |

- it's not odd, it's the light reflected by grass. - you're right - it's not missing. The sun is very high and doesn't cast long shadows. - you can, indeed, see that but not easily; or actually it depends on how "trained" you are. Of course some ILM dude would piss on this picture, but people who rarely have contact with CG and have a weak sense of observation will realize this with a big delay or not at all. - umm...there's no strange distortion at all. It's that sculpture thing, has a very weird shape. Quote:
akolyt0r, please define "weird" in this case. Tell me why do you think they look weird, that is. |

I personally think that the shadow of the tree on the wall is somehow to sharp ... And that the color of the shadow of the sculpture is wrong + there seems to be a strange thin outline around the shadow in a brighter green |

Looks cool, one gripe I have is that it looks like you took speed over quality, the grain is very visible. |
