Wumpfolk... ideas

Well I got bored and started drawing the idea for one of the other races in my upcoming project. Like I have the idea in my head but cant get it out correctly on paper...

Anyone have ideas for the race... the problem I am getting is having the shell/legs look right... while having the race look stupid, slunched over and lazy.

Ideas?

Code:
The mudjaw stand about 5 feet tall with a slight hunch (due to the heavy protective shell on its back). They mudjaw's have a green slimey look to their skin, with the skin being made up of tiny little scales. The scales themselves arent that strong but due help resist against minor cuts and abrasions. Overtime the green look to their skin can fade and become dull, and gradually go to a gray color.

They have sharp claws on their hands and feet which are used for grabbing and killing fish/food. These claws are also used to tear away at trees and much within the swamp lands. Their teeth are also sharp and are used to tear apart food aswell.

The shells on their back are amazingly durable and can withstand about every attack or force you can present to it. The shell is set in a hexagonal tiled design, with each hexagon protruding in a spike fashion. The shells tend to be slimey and resemble dark murkyness. The shell goes across the back, and a smaller encasing goes around the front and chest. (Works as a normal turtle, but Mudjaws cannot retract into the shell).

Wump Polyp
----------

The wumps have no real form besides that of a gooey substance. The goo is relatively a dark green or brownish color, as it grabs its form from its surroundings; swamps, twigs, branches, leafs, mud, etc. Sometimes this environment gets stuck in the good and the Wumpfolk present a look as if the plants are growing off of them.

Well, it's a tricky one to do in my oppinion, cos you've got two choices - one is you stay faithful to the shell on it's back being one solid piece, tortoise style, in which case the arms and legs need to be siginificantly smaller, with the joints right at the point where they emmerge from out of the shell. This will make them seem squat and potentially cute/comical, which might not be going for. The other option is to break the shell up into seperate plates, like on an insect, so one for head, one for body and a final one that acts as a sorta tail/lower body piece and goes between and behind the legs, retaining the 'limby' look of the creature and still making it work as a shelled design.

My oppinions, sorry I can't draw or I would do a sketch or two do demonstrate that it should work...should :P

Best of luck

I want a hunched over, kinda sluggish looking type of character. Like its too stupid to do anything or be smart... so it just lugs around and eats and shit... I think im going to go with your second option, because I want turtle like... but not turtle like the turtles we know.
