WT 57 - Epic

This week the task is something not usually done with the WT, as it is not anything specific. This Weekly Terrain is to create a scene that makes it seem it's part of a vast unending world, with an epic atmosphere feeling.

The castle ruins spread out far into the horizon. Shattered blocks of broken buildings lay at Roland's feet, the remains of the large, forgotten city. There hung a silence in the air, devoid of the voices that had inhabited these ruins mere days ago. All that was left here was... death. And ruin.

Silence: attach the picture next time, don't use imageshack. anyway, you used far to many sunrays in the picture, and not very mush tile variation. The picture is not very "Epic", My suggestion for you is to make a small town in the middle and scale down everything to make the impression of a bigger lanscape.
the picture looks pritty decent, so i suggest you to spend some more time on it.

Hmm. . .I guess this applies:

Over at the Hive Workshop, we had a terraining contest using only blizzard models. The theme was a castle. . .and in my opinion mine was a little "epic" sized.

I didn't have much time to work on this - only a couple of hours (due to time constraints and schoolwork) but I won 3rd place so. . .

Deck-Boy, I have saved and reloaded your images as attatchments to your post with no trouble at all, please refrain from using outside link sources next time and add the images to your post. As for your terrain, it's not bad, I think you could use some better trees, but you definatley have some potential.

Raydude, your terrain looks nice, but I feel it's enviormentally empty, try adding some trees, or small plants. Also, try not to get the map borders in the screenshot. Also, try to get some closer shots.

@Ghenjis:Thank you very much. . .I really have no idea what was wrong. . .

It would say "the image file you have uploaded can not be read" or something like that every time. . .I think it's something wrong on my end not you guys(duh)

And as I said only Blizzard models were allowed, so naturally the trees were ugly. . .=P

Thank you for your help. . .

@Raydude - Your piece does look epic, although the sky / atmosphere is horrible (No offense). Try adding a different sky and setting the time to Night so you get that same effect that a war is about to begin.

@Deck - Loved it over at the hive, loved it here.

+REP to deck, raydude fix your atmosphere and it will look great. :D

Yeah, it is a bit empty but the puddles filled in some space. Added some trees and finally used the fog effect, which helped. More screenshots at different angles and closer.
P.S. deck, the placing of the elven fishing buildings are great!

Don't mass a bunch in one spot, spread it out. It's starting to look much better, but I can still see map edge in one spot, also try making the fog a little greener.
