command-ability modification

I'm currently working on a map with 1 other person (details not specified here, because its in early development).

Anyway, here's the issue: I need to change the hotkey, button position, and tooltip for the basic command-abilitys (ie: attack, stand ground, stop, fire on ground, move, patrol, hide, gather, etc). I know that gather (and perhaps also hide) appear in the editor, but none of the others are present. I know how to do this for using CustomKeys (even for the racial build-abilitys). But how do I do it via the World Editor? I was thinking perhaps i could use a custom script, but I don't know what functions to call, if such functions (or w/e), exist.

Any help would be much appreciated (if I can just get this working, then the rest of the map will fall in to place much better).

Under the advanced dropdown menu, go to 'Game Interface' This allows you to change some of the basic images you see ingame.
You can change the icons for Basic Build (Normal build) and the unit commands (attack, move, patrol) there also.
In the Text area lower you can find the text that goes along with this but i dont think your able to change the hotkeys or positions.

Check the file Units\CommandStrings.txt in the mpq to change the hotkey and tooltip. Units\CommandFunc.txt has the icon positions. Try changing those the way you want them and importing them into your map (using the same paths, so they overwrite the old files). Never actually done it myself so I'm not sure if it works...but it seems like it should.

Awsomeness. It's working now. Thanks TaintedReality.

I'm glad I found this website again (I had started using it years ago, but all my bookmarks got destroyed, and then I couldn't find it again; which is why my account name is dated back to 2002 even though my # of posts is very low). Such an informative website it is, too.

Oh, and Dil999, I knew that the icons and text could be changed from the editor, but that was not my primary concern. Thanks for the reply anyway though (and, also, someone who's searching for it might find it useful, so its all good, as they say)

And on another note, this is my first time using MPQ (I've heard it mentioned frequently, but i didn't know exactly what it was), so thanks again for effectivly introducing it to me.

Hey, I got the same problem, I want to alter the button positions. However, editing and then reimporting the file to Units\CommandFunc.txt doesn't work when I tried it. Has something changed here?

As far as I know, no. But then again, Blizzard has been known to do some weird stuff.

Yeah, but it was relevant.
