Kingdom Elimination is what I like to describe as a cross between AoS, deathmatch, and melee. Like melee, players choose one of 4 unique races and build up an army to attack each other. Like AoS maps, such as DoTA, players must defend their Altars from destruction or risk elimination. Like deathmatch, players accrue points by killing Heroes and Altars and the team that reaches 150 points first wins. Kingdom Elimination is for up to 6 players on teams of 3 each. The four races that players may choose from are all unique and are based on the four elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. Each race has unique units and Heroes, never seen before in WC3. Players also gain income differently. Gold comes regularly at intervals of 6 seconds, so there is no need to expand and find gold mines. However, how much gold you earn per interval is determined by 3 factors: your current lumber stockpile, your unused food, and your upkeep status. Players earn 1 gold for every 10 lumber they have, and 1 gold for every 5 food produced but not used. Upkeep can decrease you gold income by decreasing how much lumber you harvest and by increasing the negative effects of the food you have used. Therefore, to maximize your income, build a lot of food-producing buildings, keep your army smaller, and be frugal with lumber.
Objectives:
- Lead you team to 150 points by killing Heroes or destroying opposing Altars.
- Eliminate a player by destroying their Altar.
- Avoid elimination by protecting your own Altar.
General Gameplay:
- Choose your race from one of the four elements at the Totem.
- Quickly train a Hero and build a "barracks" and produce a handful of soldiers. I also suggest building an item shop and a farm or two.
- Fight creeps to gain experience, obtain lumber and pick up useful items. Creeping is the best way to increase your lumber supply, particularly early in the game.
- After you have gained a few levels and researched a few upgrades, particularly the lumber harvesting upgrades, train a small army and seek out your opponent. Seek combat with your opponent's Hero outside of his base to either secure a kill or two or force him to use his scroll of town portal.
- When you have gained a few more levels and have a fairly steady income, begin training some siege units and perform some hit and fade attacks on an opponents base. Be sure to bring along a teammate or two because the opponent's teammates will likely scroll of town portal in to help defend.
- Alway protect your Hero at all costs because every Hero lost decreases your teams score a few points, particularly if its a high level Hero.
Tips:
- Conserve lumber! Use the Mercenary Camps to train units that do not cost lumber. This allows you to train units without substantially decreasing your regular income.
- Use the item shops. The Goblin Merchant has some particularly potent items that can turn the tide of most confrontations.
- Upgrade your shredders. Your shredders can work up to 80% faster if you upgrade them all the way. While this costs significant gold, the increased income you will experience from the extra lumber you harvest will more than make up for it in a short amount of time.
- Offensive tower. Buildings are considerably harder to take out without siege units, and most players do not train any unless they are planning an assault on your base. A well performed offensive towering operation can catch a player well off guard and make them essentially powerless. Of course, a smart player will counter this by always having a few ranged siege units and by watching his borders closely, but the average player isn't very smart.
- Protect your teammates. Scrolls of town portal are fairly cheap and easy to use. If your teammate is under serious attack, town portal in swiftly before he takes too much damage, and always request your teammates to do the same for you. Remember, any Altar lost is one player down on your team and 50 points awarded to the opposing team!
- Attack with your teammates. A very effective strategy is to attack one opponents base with your entire force and force the opposing team to town portal in to the rescue. When this happens, your remaining 2 teammates can attack another player's base with a largely siege army and cause significant damage to their base during the distraction, and they can't town portal back because of the item cooldown!
