Hello to you all. I'm a complete n00b to modding, but i wanted to get started. I read that Tutorial about spell editing and I decided to try it out. Ok, I downloaded TechMPQ and MPQ View, as told there, and unzipped them. The TechMPQ worked perfectly, but the MPQ View needed some kind of dll. I found it in the WC3 directory and copied it to the MPQ View dir. Okay, it started working, but somehow, when i told it to open the war3.mpq, it only showed the storm.dll on the opened files list. That was all about I needed to post this thread, but then something even worst happened. I tried to open the MPQ View again (without changing anything, just to make sure it didn't work at all) and it refused to open! The PC got veeeeeery slow, and when I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del, it doesn't show MPQ View in the Program List, but in the Process List, as if the MPQ View was still being opened. I waited a little (in fact, a LOT, about 20 min) but the program didn't start. Can you please help me with both problems? Maybe it's some kind of conflict with another program, like Norton Antivirus? Just for you to know, I'm using a Windows XP Corporate Edition (not sure about the edition, though). Thanks in advance! |

I reccomend this: Delete those 2 programs ;) Download WinMPQ from http://shadowflare.ancillaediting.ne...ad.html#WinMPQ Use WinMPQ instead to extract and add files. |

What you have described sounds strange, because I haven't heard about such problems yet. CBWhiz tip is not bad, but these tools work. 1) Check if MPQView.exe and storm.dll from the Warcraft III directory are in a seperate folder. 2) There is no interference with Norton Antivirus (I have it and I used all these tools). 3) For MPQView you need a listfile. Go to my website to download them. |

Strangely, I tested the program in my mother's user, and it works ok (it means it doesn't freeze the PC). The WinMPQ is working great, but I'll try the listfile later to give you a response. |

Now I understand. On your mothers user account it worked, eh? I assume that you don't have administrator rights on that computer. My assumption is confirmed by your OS, which is often used for multi-user PCs who have one admin-account, which is in the particular case your mother's, and some other user-accounts which have no admin-rights. |

Not really... All the four accounts in the PC are administrator-like. Anyways, the PC is my brother's. I think it might be that my user is overloaded. It has more stuff than even my brother's, and he works with network, so the PC is his working tool!!! :ggani: I have to clean it, but it has so much stuff that just thinking on it gives me the creeps... |
