Guest | I've been looking for a simple beginner map tutorial. a step by step guide to a simple map. I want to make a 2 player vr 2 comp. map. nothing special. I started a map and put computer units on the computer side nothing on the human side (except start locations). first I only had start locations for all players but the computer did nothing. now, and Im not sure what I did wronge, but at the start of the testing of the map I automatically win.... I dunno. like I said I need a simple beginner map walkthrough tutorial. 1 player on one side, computer on the other. and why won't the computer buy and use zepplins to cross water? |

Guest | Okay, as for beginner tutorials, you're not really going to find one I think. There are two ways you can familiarize yourself with the functions of the editor (well, triggers are the main part, that's the hard thing to get used to). If you have no experience at all (even with SC) I would start out by browsing through the list of actions possible for triggers. It's long, but if you can just get a sense for the type of stuff you can do, that will greatly help. The second method (if you have a little experience) is to just think of a specific thing you want one trigger to do, and then figure out how to do it. And then do that again. And again. Until you feel confident. As for your map, I think you're basically just trying to make a melee map, unless there's triggers and stuff in there, or I'm missing something. So it would probably be easier just to make terrain and leave the melee initialization triggers alone. If your comp has units and no buildings, that's why you're winning immediately. The victory trigger is defined by buildings, and ignores units. |

My best advice is to just open a map and look at everything. But that might get boring. Go to www.gamefaqs.com in the Warcraft 3 section, under the FAQs and Codes, there is a World Editor tutorial covering just about everything (including Cinematics made by ahem....ME :ggani: under the name Masamune Hunter) Enjoy. |
