this is a idea for a realistic medieval mod which is meant to simulate REALISTIC sieges and military tactics used by medieval strategists. when finished should contain a well balanced mix and match unit structure of actual medieval soldiers (long bowmen, archers, man-at-arm, lancers, heavy cav.) each has a weakness and advantage. this protect is currently in early alpha and only consists of 23 units and a fully working castle system. anyone willing to help plz pm me i am in need of a modeler a texturer and someone to fix triggers. thanks for your interest |

You need far far more info. Read our rules. Also, how about you going to implement friendly fire for archers? Without it, I doubt you'll ever emulate medieval strategies in any meaningful way. |

You can't simulate real warfare. The Warcraft engine won't let you field more than a thousand units. |

i got friendly fire working and the arrows do fairly realistic damage ....most units (without shields raised) will survive more than a few |

yeah archers that do friendly fire are hard, I had to take so much control over them with code, they need way more range than actual attack range, then when they acquire a target they need to be taken over by code to move to their actual attack range instead of just attacking, which you need a trigger to detect once it's in range of the unit. then you need to tell the unit to attack ground at an offset. hard stuff. I guess an easier way is to have them try to attack units that are at their maximum range but then have them attack ground at an offset of their ideal range and they will only hit a unit that far away if they are lucky? |
