Channel Lightning Effects not working

I've searched around for this and read several tutorials on using the Channel ability, but none of them mention any problems with using the 'Art - Lightning Effects' tag.

Everything about my ability works great, it's properly channelling and everything, the only thing missing is the lightning between the caster and the target - it's supposed to be using the Spirit Link lightning.

Anyone know of anything that might prevent the lightning from being displayed?

Are you sure the attack model art is set to Spirit Link?

Not sure what you mean. "Art - Lightning Effects" is definitely set to Spirit Link, and this works fine on Siphon Mana/Life Drain.

Triggering it's no good because the target can move - the lightning won't follow a moving unit (and I'm not doing a trigger with event of 'every 0.01 seconds').

Are there any alternative channelling spells that I can use as a dummy?
I've already got Siphon Mana on the hero, so that's out.

Run it with every .04 seconds, it creates no lag.
Thats the standard time that I use for moving things.

I think the best solution is to base your ability in one which uses lightnings. Mana / life drain is one good choice. But I suggest that you put information about what the ability should do and the kind of target, so we can give the best advice.

All of the spells effects are triggered so all I need is a dummy ability for the channelling and graphics. The target is any ground unit and the effect is just damaging the target over time. Life Drain would be perfect but the hero already has Siphon Mana, and Life Drain/Siphon Mana are the same base ability.

Aerial Shackles has built in 'cannot move/attack' so that won't work.

Oooh... although, I could possibly use Aerial Shackles instead of Siphon Mana as it would be quite useful for my hero to freeze the Siphon Mana target. Provided Aerial Shackles will work properly against ground units... Then I could use Life Drain as my dummy channeling ability.

Nevertheless, there are other spells that I'll need a dummy channeling ability with ligthning effects that is not Siphon Mana/Life Drain (or Shackles).

Finger of Death is not a channeling spell but it does have a field that dictates how long the lightning effect is shown for, and that effect will move between the caster and target as they move. You could just add an unseen Channel ability to the caster and order it cast via trigger when the Finger of Death ability is cast. The downside is that, if the Finger of Death ability kills the unit, it will explode.

EDIT: P.S. Yes, Aerial Shackles can be made to target basically anything.

He could always make a custom Finger of Death that deals no damage and still get the desired effect.

Aye, although I'm wary of suggesting that without first testing to see if the Finger of Death ability toggles the unit to explode whether or not it's actually the Finger of Death that kills it.

Not sure if this would help, but doesn't Lightning Attack have a field where you can set the duration that the lightning is displayed for?

Oh, wait, never mind. It doesn't move the lightning if the hero moves.
