Ice? Ice. ICE! and how you make it?

I recently ran into a problem. I can't seem to make any thing icy? All my attempts have being futile. I was wondering how do some of you guys create Ice, or Crystalline textures? I think this also may make for a good tutorial.

I've never tried making ice in a skin before, but I guess the two most important things are shinyness and semi-transparency.

You can set the transparency in the World Editor, so that´s not really necesary.

You can also set alpha channels in a skin to a very very light gray
BUT you cannot use these alphas on the team color
Team color is either team colored or not at all

Nir could you show how you did it? please? I'm attempting to mimic it. Its a bit hard.

Well, that´s my second skin or something, so i did it using dodge and burn, something i wouldn´t recommend right now :P. But the basic idea is the same, you divide the part you want to turn into ice in small sections (like i did with that naga, but use white instead of black edges), and then shade them as if they where prisms.
I recommend that you do those edges in one layer and then create another layer beneath for the shading and lightning... I don´t know another way to explain all this shit, that´s one of the reasons i don´t make tutorials >.<

Mc's tutorial on how to make a crystal effect?

I think that tutorial is not good for texturing, i would try another method. That´s just my opinion tho, so if that tut helps you, go head.

That's my tutorial dude, Mc showed me how to do that and I made a tut about it.

Though, that effect could be a solution, you can apply any texture you want for that effect, so an ice texture will might do wonders.

I think I might try it Mc's way (tut by olof) Ill see how it turns out apparently nobody has tried it on a real skin.

Pioneer Halandor out!

No, he means the one of how to draw crystal effects, where he did an icon as an example. And you made the one where you modify the model.

Mc !
My tut is kind of crappy when applied to texturing

I wouldn't say that. It looks fine.
